I am sure you will have more luck than me Floatylight. I just spent half the morning complaining that my new iPod nano didn't work, and then realised that I needed to peel the sticky pretend screen off of the front of it. doh.gif

Morning everyone hope you all have a lovely christmas.

Well i am so pleased i got a faba dozy weather station for my crimbo from the hubster!

Just got to work out how to use it today.

He put it all up and its working.

Just need to play with it today, its a wireless ,touchscreen one(easyweather professional)smile.png

I have to download the pc disk that came with it today and read the manual.

Its seems a bit complexed to me tbh:/

Have a great day today xx

Hi Floatylight,

I bought one from Maplins before Xmas (says Gadget wireless weather forecast) however I think the model goes under many names. I wanted it to work alongside my Davis which is not connected to the computer and I must say I am very pleased with it and it seems to work just as well as the expensive ones.

I found the software that came with it did to not want to load so I went for the free Cumulus software which seems to have good ratings on a number of forums, it can be found on the following web site

http://sandaysoft.com/

My weather station is now sending data up to the web

Grab your wellies: More floods expected as forecasters warn of six weeks worth of rain to fall before New Year

  • Flooding expected across Britain, with 394 warnings and alerts out
  • Boxing Day walkers warned of landslides on coastlines and rail tracks
  • The South West, Midlands and Anglia at biggest risk from floods
  • Seven inches to fall by Saturday on already saturated ground

Just reading on twitter the fire brigade are pumping out a sub station near reading, as they say its under 2ft of water and they need to prevent it rising further.

Peter Gibbs mentioned the land slide warning in his late forecast last night, I thought at the time how unusual to hear that in a forecast.

Hope to god everyone stays safe down sw eng.

heavy rain after heavy rain for us (and indeed everyone) this week with bands coming today, tomorrow, friday, sat/sun and then Monday...back to square 1 then by early next week

Indeed, current projections show that even us in the east could see 30mms out of next Monday's rainband and that comes on top of what would already be 20mms between now and then, at the very least. worrysome times

After posting about my new weather station I have just noticed the wind speed has not been recording for a while, have been out and moved the cups around and it appears to jam after a few secondssad.png . It's too far up for anything today and i can only think something inside has worked loose, I notice Maplins have spare ones although out of stock at the moment which may have to be the way if it's a sealed unit.

Anyway raining again here.

Using technology such as radar, webcams and ground based sensors combined with the expert opinion of experienced forecasters; the Met Office is able to declare whether or not (YES or NO) snow fell at the following locations on Christmas Day 2012:

Just had a look in the Scottish thread - some of those lucky lot are expecting snow overnight. Meanwhile in the dank, dark south it is raining (for a change)
