My guess would be 3-5 cm if all is correct munchermark. dew points and all that jazz. Surely the fax can't be out now?

From what I've seen the models are suggesting 0-1cm for us, can't see that tbh.

Are you thinking more or less? Haha

3-5 cm is my thoughts if Monday swings in our favour as well.

More. No chance we're not going to get a cover from that initial front anyway, 5-7cm widely away from extreme coastal regions.

BT like your optimism, is strange with bbc, summary no mention of sleet or rain on 4pm update, but graphics show heavy rain

Bt i wont believe it till i see it . There was a pic posted on here a few yrs ago and it showed the north west england with a snow front passing us and dgoi g around our area like there was a barrier. This comes to mind

What we really need is that when the band late Monday morning starts to intensify... We really just need it to sod off tbh and hug the cm's we have. I think that there's more chance of it intensifying further south and then I'll Be as happy as a grown man in snow.

The front cannot miss us. That is completely and totally nailed now. What it falls as isn't nailed.

According to the bbc weather It shows heavy rain for leyland on Monday but in Chorley where I going on Monday shows Sleet. Chorley is a higher place than Leyland. Chorley is about 80 metres above sea-level.

By the end of Monday's fall I'm going for 2-5 cm from the coast to the M6 and 5-10cm across most other areas.

Altitude will play a major part though and I can see the higher parts of the Pennines getting as much as 15cm or more from it.

If it plays out as indicated I would expect the largest fall IMBY since December 2010 and certainly in excess of what we had in February and early December 2012.

That said though I can't see the totals for December 2010 and certainly January of that year being threatened this time around.

You will get some from the first band but for those west of Manchester it will be washed away by the 2nd for sure.

3 hours ago there was no mention of rain.

Looking at the models as they stand thats optimistic.

However, if you look on the Met office map and zoom in, the snow turns to rain in Manchester and then fizzle out over the whole of the NW by mid monday, but, the snow symbol is shown in Huddersfield, for another 6 hours after that, so we only need a slight upgrade to bring us right back into it, it would need a bigger upgrade to bring Backtrack and the like into it though.

keep us updated on the rain front, there is no chance you will see rain

and i also reckon within 15miles of the coast it will also be snow all the way

and so did the METO on the 17.30 forecast

I would settle for it, it would be a start although i am after the really big one via a massive powerhouse Easterly or a stalled front, i want a 40cm fall with massive drifts, that was one of the aims of moving here.

After last winter I just want a covering that stays around longer than a couple of hours.

I thought it was really looking good at one point, then it downgraded, then Jay wynne's forecast a couple of hours ago was very good but the last 3 he has not shown a graphic for anytime after 1500 tommorow so must be uncertainty again, the Met office map as i said still looks very promising.
