I could be wrong, that's what the guys in the very serious model output forums have said though

They'll use either todays 00z runs or todays 12z runs for the countryfile forecast.

Still light snow here in S Brum. Radar seems to show the band weakening and fragmenting a little, can't see much from this.

Can someone please enlighten me as to why, when we have SSW and a -NAO, we still get marginal snow events, which means likely rain/sleet? If we can't get snow when these systems are in place, when can we? Also it puzzles me that although we are on the gulf stream, the seas around us tend to get the snow, whereas the UK itself gets rain. Surely the waters around us are even warmer than the island, so why do they get snow and we get rain. They are in the gulf stream too!!

The effects of the SSW have yet to be felt at ground level apparently, plus this cold spell is only just getting started therefore we don't, as yet, have a deeply entrenched pool of cold air above us.

4 hours of light snow.

We have just under 2cm now. Looking more seasonal out there for a change.

Thank you. So am I safe to assume that by the Spring, the effects of the current SSW might be felt?lol

Latest radar frames have it all starting to fizzle away again. Although there's some bits and pieces starting to pop up behind it in Wales.

Nothing yet here in Hinckley (ignore the name). Tomorrow might be fun for me. I have a meeting in Bedworth first thing, back in the office in Coventry until early afternoon, and possibly a trip to Warwick to end the day. All on public transport!

Def easing up/stopping here, nice while it lasted, radar not looking good, lets just hope it's not damaged the low temps too much
