Snowmageddon truly beckons...

If you are not familiar with this feature on meteociel, it allows you to click on the map and produce an ensemble run for your own location. Don't worry too much about the spread of ens members if that is confusing, they will be confusing themselves as the volatility continues.

Just have a look along the bottom for the snowflakes and %age snow chances.

This chart for somewhere in the central belt and many, many other locations are identical..

Snow chances from now right out to the very end of the run..

Chances of a mild interlude 0%.

Heads down until Friday hopefully we will all see something. There is a band of snow currently crossing Ireland heading our way but I doubt it will make it across.

I don’t mean to sound like a spoil sport, but this low seems to be getting push further back each run?

just managed to check the over night runs and it looks like we're still on some great some not so good would have to rate them.

1 = UKMO

2 = ECM

3 = GFS/GEM

UKMO really keeping things looking epic with the ECM not far behind.

Early warning out for Parts of England and Ireland for Friday.

Nothing for Scotland.

Yes, seems a bit out of step with the accumulated snow charts posted elsewhere.

I'm not up on what models are generating each of these charts though as I'm not a subscriber. The Met Office does seem to have been largely on the money so far during this spell of weather.

MWIS seems to reckon at the moment that the snow will make inroads well into Scotland from the SW during Friday though, and that there will 'then (be)

further snow circulating within low pressure until well into next week.'

http://www.mwis.org.uk/

I've got no central heating at the moment and am supposed to be going hillwalking at the weekend but am still longing for snow - it's an addiction!

Hopefully!

I have read a few posts on the MT mentioning rain for Western Scotland.

Guess we won't know till it comes.

Thats good. Suggestive that lower pressure/trough will indeed be to the south and west of us.

If we got the advance warning first I'd be more concerned that any low pressure to north and west would be washing us out to rain and atlantic influence pretty quickly

So all going to plan at this point !

Early warning out for Parts of England and Ireland for Friday.

Nothing for Scotland.

I think anywhere away from the coast should do fine looking at the latest models.

Trouble is, I don't believe a word of it. You see, all manner of charts were posted last week saying "snowmagdden" or "incoming whiteoot" when in reality very little did occur. My question is: Why should I believe theses charts this time round?nea.gif
