Wow! Just arrived at Hersham Stn, certainly looking different to London.

Sorry that we all can't share in this amount, I hope the rest of the weekend tops you all up with a good amount! :)

It has been snowing lightly here for hours, but doesn't seem to accumulate, I am not sure that I can measure the dusting we've had! Currently much larger flakes falling, but not anything coin sized! Temperature is falling now at +0.1.

Every branch big with it,

Bent every twig with it;

Every fork like a white web-foot;

Every street and pavement mute:

Some flakes have lost their way, and grope back upward when

Meeting those meandering down they turn and descend again.

The palings are glued together like a wall,

And there is no waft of wind with the fleecy fall.

A sparrow enters the tree,

Whereon immediately

A snow-lump thrice his own slight size

Descends on him and showers his head and eye

And overturns him,

And near inurns him,

And lights on a nether twig, when its brush

Starts off a volley of other lodging lumps with a rush.

The steps are a blanched slope,

Up which, with feeble hope,

A black cat comes, wide-eyed and thin;

And we take him in.

Thomas Hardy, 1840-1928

A rather lovely poem !! A perfect verse to go with today's wintry weather!

Just sent it to family and friends.

Thank you.

Same in Eastbourne, I think we are experiencing some of the effects of orthographic lift from the Downs as it comes up The Channel and along the coast.

Coast, what's your view on that depression moving out of France on Sunday? Do you think it is likely to just skirt the extreme east of Kent and track NE?

What a total let down in Gravesend Kent!!! All the hype surround this front and it fizzles out before it even gets going in Kent. I'm sulking like a 4 year old lol guess ill have to wait to make a snow man

3-4 inches here in Haywards Heath. Exactly what was predicted, I'll take that.

Now on to Sunday....

Picked up again, light to moderate snow for the last 30 mins. Still a bit disappointed but thus far fared better than those just east of me so can't complain.

Have a sneaky suspicion those in the east will be better placed on Sunday.

Light snow now. 6cm (proper measurement) - tallies with local weather stations (SW London probably topped the London league). I guess parts of Surrey and Sussex have topped 10cm+?

Competition wise, we are going to ground out a 0-0 draw.

You've still got until 09.00 Monday and by then we might all be looking at 0-0 draws.

Might look like a Sunday atfernoons results in the Italian football league (Serie A)!

I can say, that I'm half-Italian!

Regards,

Tom.

North-East England is getting battered with heavy snow showers at the moment! Any chance of something like that when winds switch Easterly? I'd have thought so but BBC are calling for dry weather tomorrow.

I HATE frontal snow with a passion, every single frontal snow event, and I mean every single one in my life has been a complete letdown. Give me convective snow any day!

So disappointed. It's falling apart the snow. No chance of me seeing any, 3rd time this week. What a let down.

You'll get more than your fair share on Sunday, looking really good for you then

Been snowing in Fleet Hants since before 8am. Roads are treacherous not sure anything has been gritted - kids all sent home from school at lunch. Must be 5 inches of powder like snow.

Can't you get cream for that?!
