For the past couple of runs the GFS has also shown another area of precipitation pushing North. Looks a bit marginal but would probably good for West and South Yorkshire, and those with decent altitude.

Good summary HC, I think the BBC are not being bullish enough with their forecasts, pretty much all models indicate the PPN reaching the Pennines.

Yes just look at yesterday, how late was they in putting an amber warning out for north east england. Some areas near newcastle got a good 6 inches in just a few hours.

Also for us sunday/monday, just watch for where any snow streamers set up, if you get under one, 1" of snow can turn into 4/5" in just a few hours ; )

This is certainly something to keep an eye on. With this event it will probably pay to be inland a bit.

Uh oh, I can hear dripping off the roof. Icicles are forming though, so must be below freezing.

METO removed the last heavy snow for 3pm, but on the plus side they added heavy snow for 6am and from 3pm Sun to 3am Mon solid.

It wont come off but it gives hope. Still shnizzling here and -1.0C.

Hoping that the GFS is wrong for early next week. I don't mind the idea of a breakdown to milder weather at the end of the week but I don't fancy a few days of sleety stuff, slowly thawing slush and ice, and the media telling us about us having a welcome respite from the dreadful weather. If UKMO/ECMWF verify then it should remain snowy until the end of our cold spell.

It's +0.7 here but you can't see melting except on metal objects.

It has snowed lightly almost continuously so far, but it is frozen bits not proper flakes.

Overcast here- we are clearly on the southward edge of the dividing line between the instability/North Sea convection and stable dry cloudy weather with stratocumulus, with some light snow flurries but nothing major. It's up at +1.3 here but the dew point remains below zero and consequently there is very little thawing. Managed to get a couple of snowmen built this morning!
