I have to say you can't complain if you like snow here in the NE. Look at the UK Radar. It was like this for days on end during the 2010 spell.

Anyone notice how the media is harping on about the 2-5cms in the south east and the couple of cms for most of middle England, but they've ignored the 5-20cms falling across E Scotland/NE England?!

This problem is more than 50 years old, watched the black and white documentary of the 1963 big freeze on BBC2 today, too young to remember by a long way but looked awesome. It was heavily South/South West centered.

Snowing here now. quite heavy big flakes. Road that was gritted earlier totally recovered.

Heavy snow in Gateshead. Temp has dropped so the snow is sticking to everything. No thaw here.

Been on overcast day in general over Peterlee with the off light snow shower, mainly snow in the wind. Snow cover has remained more or less intact

I should be back in the North East at lunchtime - no sign of any major thaws before then by the sounds of it, thankfully!

Moderate snow here BUT just had a wedge of snow fall of the conservatory roof.

You should still come back to a very decent covering.

Don't think the radar is like 2010, most of the showers do look the light-moderate variety but they are certainly widespread.

Its ashame looking at the cloud images, there is no signs of any lumpy cloud which of course in between showers stops the temperature from rising too much by the clearer skies.
