Haven't seen anything here in Whitley Bay. Are we likely to?

There's plenty of showers packing in to your location the question is will these fall as sleet or snow? the radar is showing sleet

Looking like the showers are becoming more patchy now on the radar

Late tomorrow and Monday looks like bringing the next spell of disruptive snow for the Monday morning rush hour

Still some decent looking showers out to sea. Can't complain really though as path I cleared today now got a new 3 inch cover just in the last 3 hours or so.

The intense shower in the Morpeth area developed rapidly on hitting the coast. This could be a good if the others heading our way do the same......

4 inches of wet snow here!

The snow is dry here, not quite powder but certainly not wet. The temp is below freezing now as well.

Hoping for some more snow showers tonight to top up the existing 15-20cm.

Well its just goes to show nowcasting and looking at the radar in these situations is the only way to go. Here in Hexham this evening 2" fresh good snow all roads covered from the numerous heavy showers. temp-0.5 Who could forecast that at even 24hrs out. Conditions perfect for convection and a Tyne valley streamer. -8 uppers,-10 just of the coast, due easterly wind with a bit of North in the upper flow, bingo out of nowhere this evening a lovely snow fall not forecast. Morpeth getting hammered, Otterburn getting hammered., localised winter amazement, Does my head in sometimes reading other threds when folk are trying to forcast timings and depth 5 days out sometimes 15.

This evening in the Tyne valley totally unexpected, but great. roll on tomorrow night.

Superb post and just goes to show why even Meto and BBC forecasts are pretty much pointless in these kind of set ups.

I have yet to see the Meto and BBC forecast a Tyne/Wear streamer or North Sea convection with any degree of accuracy at all, or even forecast anything at all along those lines for that matter!

And let's face it, if we have this local knowledge it just goes to show the ignorance of the BBC et al in these set ups.

Just watch a programme about the feb 2009 “SUPER BLIZZARDâ€. Delivered 6inches across the country. A one in 20 year event the experts said then. Apart from every winter since it seams. Plenty more in the north sea to come and monday starting to look very very interesting.

Monday is looking more interesting by the hour, the latest NAE shows much of the north-east

getting a pounding on Monday.

If this chart was showing in summer i would know what to expect here in the north-east,a

miserable day with heavy rain.

However, with upper temps of -7 or -8 things could get very interesting!
