From what i can see off forecast models is that kent will get 8-10 mm which equtes to 12-15cm of snow if it oes

Nice - my address is Kent, but I fear I'm too close to London so might not quite get the same amount. I'm staying optimistic though.

Swear filter! Ooops, off topic, but not as off topic as Paul!

I still don't see this as anything like the coldest winter for 20 years - 2010 was colder earlier. It would be interesting to see a comparison of cumulative minimum temps in various areas between this winter and 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Bobbydog...do you think we are "in the zone" for tomorrow??..looks like we are very close to the edge judging by BBC forecast.

I really don't get the BBC forecasts!

Just seen the 21:55 forecast with Alex Deakin I think it was, and he's putting 2-4 cms across the SE & EA with a yellow warning. A few pages back on here Mr Murr said latest charts were showing precip of upto 15mm which is 19cms!

How can there be such a massive difference?

And for what it's worth I trust and value Steve's input on here far more that any other forecast!

M

According to latest bbc news heathrow expecting 2-6cm, so if precip is meant to be heavier this side of london and charts stating 8-10 mm precip that equates to 12-15cm snow.....

.

Chart Viewer, suggested that if a competitor doesnt register a depth at this half way stage, they should forfeit the tie!

If I've missed anybody's total let me know.

Cheers,

Tom

Met offic

Alert is over 24 hrs ahead (we have alert)

Warning is less than 24 hours

So I suspect alert will change to warning

Also it says levels depend on likely disruption eg Kent may have alert of 70mph winds but Scotland same weather but no alert as less likely to cause disruption

Given tomorrow is Sunday I wonder if that's why we still yellow

Realised it's about wider impact not just depths of snow

In my experience Met Office only update warnings around noon each day, or about an hour after the event has actually started!

O.K, here are the depths from the match-ups in the first half of the draw, totals are in cms.

N.M.R. (No measurement registered), come on people put 4 layers on and get out there and have a measure up.

Chart Viewer, suggested that if a competitor doesnt register a depth at this half way stage, they should forfeit the tie!

I'm tempted but thats a bit harsh but if they DONT REGISTER A DEPTH BY 9 a.m MONDAY, (IF NO MORE SNOW IS FALLING IN THE REGION,I SUPPOSE I COULD EXTEND THAT TO NOON), THEY WILL FORFEIT THE TIE AND THEIR OPPONENT WILL MOVE INTO THE NEXT ROUND. (I'm not shouting really).

A comment on those scores above, I'd wished I'd had a bet the overs in total snow depth JEZZER v.LONDON SNOW.

To think they were matched randomly from Paul S's list, spooky eh.

I will post the scores on the doors in the 2nd half of the draw, in a wee while, too much to take in all at once.

If I've missed anybody's total let me know.

Cheers,

Tom

Blimey Matt do you ever post anything positive, have another Prawn Sandwich and chillblum.gif

I've posted plenty of positive comments, most of which get ignored. I'm just stating that Monday is looking more marginal. Is this not supposed to be a weather discussion forum?

Compacted powder snow at 230m on Colley Hill today, the bombhole perfect for sledging. High up in the Surrey Hills, a grey-white mist kept me peering into the distance to spot the usual landmarks as smoke from chimneys 150 vertical metres below at the foot of the escarpment was carried away towards the Azores. There is something special about the squeaking that comes from boots on powder snow, winter mountaineering in Scotland, walking in the Alps in September and once again, I can add to the list, the North Downs after proper snowfall.

So, Bexley, Bromley, Sidcup, Bromley, Crayford, Orpington and Swanley should fair better on tomorrow's event?

yes- take the MEAN of all of the runs we seem to look reasonably well set- I am going to push the boat out at 7cm- although expect 5cm.

I think the eastern ends will do better- Im greenhithe so maybe I might luck in- but knowing my luck im to close to the thames--

I think the MEAN for our area is 3-8cm based on the acc rates.... the actuals will be down to luck....
