Sober? C'est quoi? TW's pic was worth tho have to say I'm a tad jealous. Really must get away from the beach...

Heck - and S1975's pics, wonderful stuff. Folk have been saving the good ones I think!

I doubt you would want to get away from where you live at all! I wouldn't. It's been a funny old winter HC tho' hasn't it? Certainly today's weather came as a complete surprise to those of us in east central today. I am quite happy now, as I finally don't feel that I have dipped out of this cold spell. Who knows what next month will bring. I certainly can't figure it out!

It is certainly developing and looks to be moving east. Any reports of new activity in the west?

Traffic cam at Alexandira, north of Dumbarton shows snow.

Looks worse on the rain today. Is that band over England moving north again?

Monster thread today, heaps of great posts. Superb Snow Pics, love the garden one that looks like buried Daleks..

Yep, Iced up freezing cold rain here mixed in with the odd bits and pieces of sleety hail. Quite an organised band zooming west -east just now might be some fun in there.

Off to investigate Mondy's storm, what a system that is. oooft !

The new band is proper rain here in east ayrshire/ Lanarkshire border. Not even a hint of sleet.

Down to 966mb now which is fairly normal for a depression oot there, but then you remember it was 1003mb less than 24hrs ago, so already it has bombed, with explosive cyclogenesis soon..

Sometimes, through cloud mass via satellite, you just know a storm is a monster. This thing is still developing, and look at it. All I can say is thank god it's not gonna be over us..

Get a load of this toy for tracking storms on Satellite. http://www.eumetrain...512&region=euro

For some reason the ECM filters on the left don't always load, but loads of overlays there and clicking the link gives a quick explanation. It is about to slam into that cold air and get RACY. 20mb drop in 12 hrs is equally impressive nearly to bomb definition in half the 24 hour game time.

Sky has cleared a bit and currently 1.5c.

Chatting to my daughter tonight and discussing how cold it still is after Atlantic fronts have come in and also how cold it remains later here locally for the next few days and we can"t help but wonder if the upper air coming in off the Atlantic is perhaps slightly colder than was expected.

We both feel that the next cold spell is not far away given the background coolness.

The good Dr Maue just posted up this marine analysis chart 961 - 929, might be the same one you found early Mondy.

I hope so certainly it's colder than I would have expected.
