Up on Dartmoor today, where light snow, still falling

Only thing i miss is better visibility & sunshine

I sunk up to my knees in places, they done good up there

Nice video!! Have to say we have been lucky, still completely covered up here as it has barely risen above 0c today. Bit more forecast tonight apparently but will be happy if it goes somewhere else as we have had our fair share.

Absolutely hammering it down with rain, already flooded in the lanes as well.

Yes I think that is the next big story, couple the rainfall predictions with the melt on Dartmoor, Exmoor, Mendips and Cotswolds that is a lot of water running in to our rivershelp.gif

Got builder coming tomorrow to repair guttering damaged by snow on roof, Will be ready then for heavy rain over weekend,,,,,,,,Arn't we having funmega_shok.gif Edited by cerneman

just got back from two bridges. very nice. Only thing missing was some falling snow. Princetown is covered but what's surprising is how quickly it disapears Plymouth side.

I guess this is our last chance to see snow then?

That's the snow melt from earlier replenished! Wasn't expecting this, if that really heavy patch SE of me in Stroud moves in the right direction, it's gonna be deeper again! Very happy, don't care what occurs at the weekend, this is way better than last winter, even if it's not that 'cold'.

It's not even February yet! I'm wondering if we'll get any more before Easter. Maybe this is just a taster? blum.gif

Lol I mean out of this cold spell...

And so the cold spell loses its grip

As the thaw begins, drip drip drip

For some it was good, 20cm and more

For others 'twas nothing more than a bore

For Latitude it hasn't been cold enough

For Chris55, enough to get stuck

Will it impress the Beast of Dartmoor

Or will it need him wanting a whole lot more

As we prepare for the Atlantic return

There's one more thing I have to learn

The expectations of us all vary so much

Some have been met, some barely touched

Will we see further snowfall you ask

Bristle Boy wants a blizzard right from the past

18cm of snow recorded in the city

Unlike Wellington where snow has been but a pity

During this time this thread's been held together

By a dedicated & charming Gottolovethisweather

Assisted by a gleeful, snowbound AJ Poolshark

Sorting out the drivel way off the mark

Many thanks for the positivity from these two

Catacol Highlander, maybe join them too

its the uncontrollable great British weather

the more we don't know, the better & better

So I'll leave you now to enjoy the last snows

Iceberg said it would happen, he sure knows

So sorry to those who experienced just rain

I know seeing the same stuff is one big strain

I hope winter visits us all one last time

Before we enter the season, British Summertime

Be positive and happy, remember its just a hobby

No need at all to throw a childish wobbly.

Looks like that snow moving towards Bristol keeps breaking up just as it reaches. Just got very light snow here in Frampton Cotterell, North Bristol

I think you lose the altitude pretty fast as you go back to plymouth. It is stunning at the moment, looking at the rader there is a bit more on the way.

Ian was just on the local news showing off the UKV model for snow forecasts. Love it good.gif

I saw that :) apparently it's the first time it's been shown on TV! Aren't we blessed :p

How lucky are we to have Ian as our local forecaster!!!!! I didn't actually see the Points West forecast, but will def check it out on Iplayer later.

Sounds like a 10 out of 10 for Ian!

I know! Although that wasn't on the actual forecast, he did something with another reporter about snowflakes/snow etc, and he showed it then. Although I'm sure you can find the whole programme somewhere! Well here's the forecast in case you or others want it, and I'll try looking for the whole programme :)

Forecast: http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/hi/news/newsid_7760000/7760862.stm

Here's the programme :) it should be a bit after the 20 minute mark (not sure when)

It didn't stick much in Cheltenham today but up on Cleeve Hill was a different story. Over the top (near Postlip Warren) I found a field with 2-7inches snow all over and quite steep so perfect for snowboarding. Snowed on and off most of the day.

Well Barry I think you have every reason to moan. It must be so frustrating. I dont suppose you have seen snow since Dec 2010. That's an awfully long time to wait. Wish I could send you some.

had a quick peak at the radar before I left but looked about 8 or 9 so decided to come back. Stunning drive though. First time I've properly seen moors under snow. It is a stunning part of the world.

Does anyone know who is moderating the MO thread tonight?
