Torrential rain in Newport hammering the house and gusty winds (my poor snow sled has been blown down the garden), but no hail or lightening yet. sad.png

Looking at the radar there seems to be more coming! Here in Cardiff there was lightning and thunder, I said last night that tonight could be similar as there was a trough on the fax chart that seemed to pass over us, and it looks like it has..

yes, nice looking area of organized convection pushing through South Wales into the west country, with plenty of convective activity out to the west in the Irish Sea tracking west to east

Torrential rain and a very long rumble of thunder just a second ago. Thunder & lightening 2 nights on the trot. Bit weird for January

That last strike literally shook the house. That must have been pretty close.

Isn't there a radar and / or mapping site that records lightning strikes? What's best folks? Cheers in advance......

Cardiff can keep the thunder and lightening, I'll be hiding under the duvet if we get it. Must have been worn out from all the excitement of the snow (or my 5am start) as hubby said I slept through it all last night lol.

Mad hail, thunder and lightning here about 30mins ago! Hail is still on the floor now with ~1cm acccumulated! Looks like more thunderstorms to come looking at the radar!

Just had near death experience driving back from Cardiff on m48,very intense hail leaving an inch of hail across the carriageway causing 4 cars to spin coming the other way and me almost hitting the centre barrier .temp went from 7 to 3 deg in a mile !! lightening was awesome .

CRIKEY - glad your ok mate - sounds like a scene out of a James Bond Movie - WOW - you never know when you could be called - but it wasn't to be this time - very lucky then!

edit:- more storms in coming - so hunker down everyone - don't forget - if they are really severe - suggest turning off your electricals - before the storm blows your gear up!
