Just noticing the rain now turning decidedly more sleety (though primarily rain) here in Daventry; 2.5C, DP of 1.8C

Edit - 5 mins later and it's now VERY wet snow! pretty fast change in the ppn type; 2.4C, DP 1.7C

Reports from the SE thread of rain now turning to sleet/wet snow. The changeover is moving in a NW direction. Expect the rain to start turning to snow in Northamptonshire in next half an hour, Warwick/Coventry at around 16:30, Birmingham 17:00, Wolverhampton 17:30

GFS looking decent, not that it matters at this time frame, but it does help give a bit of confidence.

2.4c now.

Interesting update from Ian Fergusson

W COUNTRY However, it's a complex set-up & some developments out of kilter with even latest models, so uncertainty re snow remains v high.

As a Sky Blues fan, I am just envious of anyone in the top two divisions!

Miserable day here, had only rain so far, temp's been hovering around the mid 3oC range until the last half hour when it's finally begun to fall, currently 2.8oC, dew point 2.0oC. Rain's stopped for the time being, we seem to be in a clear area on the radar.

Since my previous post at 13:28, the temperature has dropped by 1 degree, temperature is now 3.1 degrees. The rain isn't that heavy though.

Temperature now 2.7 degrees, falling steadily and the rain becoming a little more sleety though it remains light at the moment.

i take all the forecasts with a pinch of salt after the last let down when we had snow cover and temperatures were low and they forecasted marginal heavy snow for us and all we got was heavy rain (with a short period of sleet thrown in for good measure). was a total let down.
