The sleet is now much more obvious, even a casual glance from the window shows snow flakes mixed in with the rain. Don't know what the temperature is as I'm at work.

Sleety here now

The rain here has changed in character in the last half hour and is now that sort of heavy, but very fine rain you get just before it turns to sleet and then to snow....I have a good feeling about tonight, it has an air of 1990 about it :-) (and I'm usually negative about this sort of stuff lol)

I agree.

They have got this all wrong. Way underestimated snow amounts. I think we'll see some people come out with 20CM.

And I'm only half joking!

Well, would you like up that. A nice juicy gap of weak precipitation with Leicester right in line with it all. Why am I not surprised ?

Hope this changes.

this is good, a good while for the ground to dry up and hopefully when that heavier ppn arrives it will be a much better type!

4C ???

I'm showing 2.6c

as i said, my guage is just a 'stick out the window' one so proximity to the house might have an effect. just need to show it dropping that's the important thing. snow can fall at temps at high as 7c but for any settling to occur the temp needs to be less than 3c. saying that rain can fall at temps just above freezing so temp isn't always a gurantee of snow unless they are really low.

12z GFS quite an upgrade for areas E and SE of Birmingham. I would put Warwickshire and Northamptonshire as the places to be for this event.
