iam looking at rain today radar, can someone explain to me what is happening to the ppn?, sorry if it seems an odd question, i just cant work out what its doing i thought the feature and ppn accociated was suppose to sink south and go into the continent. Wouldnt normally ask its just annoying me. While im here whats the chances of seeing falling snow? need my snow fix before winters over, can look forward to our so called summers then lol.

It's a complex picture, different bits of the precipitation over Wales are moving in different directions, as different fronts do their thing, get turned around etc. But in general, following the NMM, NAE, precipitaation should move slightly westwards, perhaps slightly north westwards, as the night goes on. It may sink south towards the continent eventually but by that stage should more or less have died out.

Temp still 4.5C here in the Rhymney Valley - not very hopeful this time but still think we have a good 6 weeks or so for another decent snow event

as the low moves to our south, it will pull precip back west. But doubt any of S Wales will see lying snow but some in east may see some falling snow for a time.

It's amazingly stopped raining here - strange silence after the hammering of rain all day.

4.5°C - much too mild - can't see the cold air coming this way and PPN seems to have gone.....

The cold air will come this way and PPN may seemed to have fizzled out but SW development over the channel and the low moving southwards will pull PPN back west. However, even though the cold air will reach Wales, when it does, PPN may have began to fizzled out. As Ian F said, what happens with the shortwave is crucial whether the NAE 6z solution with snow for Wales and SW occurs or not.

Seeing the pics of snowmaggedon in USA, our American cousins, and European ones must laugh their socks off on seeing our wish for snow and the Met Yellow warnings for snails poo depth of disruptive snow.

On the plus side, we have the wonderful sport of Rugby, twiglets and decent beer.

Really quiet in here tonight says it all really the snow seems rather patchy anyway, can see why it was hard to forecast now. Whats the chances of this feature developing to give south wales and west midlands snow? Heard it mentioned but dont know what im looking for, is it a shortwave feature to develop ?

Temperature has been stuck at 3.5C for the last 3 hours with drizzle. Think the chance of snow has now gone with the precipitation fragmenting

Answer: watching the film 'Black Death' on IPlayer - cos it looked a bit 'Arthur' - ish..

Temperature has been dropping steadily here, now 1.3c, but precipitation has all but disappeared. Heavy precip would be snow I think. Precip seems to be pretty static according to radar, some sweet spots in English midlands and northern home counties could have a fair bit of snow, other places a few miles down the road could have hardly any.
