Yes it's been a decent winter for lying snow, perhaps not that decent compared to 2008-2011 but still nothing that was seen in some of the winters in the 90's and 00's.

Having said all that I'm really not sure how I rate it in terms of being a good, bad or average winter ... I think I might go for average or slightly above average in terms of lying snow. Certainly not a bad Winter by any means. (oh and by the way I'm not talking about the moors anymore I'm talking about below 250m) :p

And of course it isn't all over yet, perhaps, judging by tonight's ECM.

I have to agree that it's been a decent winter although nowhere near as good from a snow point of view as the 09-10 winter.

At one stage we had over 12 inches of lying snow at home and drifts over 10 feet high within a ten minute walk and frosts were also severe for days on end.

To me it's the lack of frost which has made this winter so unusual.

It's been a cold winter without any particular cold if that makes sense.

As regards lying snow this winter, like you we've had patches surviving behind walls and in gully's for about a month and snow on the drive at home for probably 20 of the last 28 days.

Certainly a vast improvement on last winter.

How quiet is it on here and outside

Everyone is probably just catching a breather after the record breaking snowfall the region has endured over the last few weeks.
