Very messy looking here, seems the cumulus clouds have reached the inversion and spread into a layer of altocumulus. Is that a good sign?

Couldn't agree more. And there you go, showers now developing in Warminster.

 

Look at that one cell near Westbury!

I've been watching a very impressive CB developing over the last 90 minutes jut over and to the NNW of Warminster. Here there were a few sharp showers right at the edge but it's now edged away and the radar shows intense echoes just West of Trowbridge and joining up to another cell near Bristol.Whether any more cells form to the SE tip is uncertain but at present it looks in the sky as though a further cell my develop a little further West which may affect Frome/The Mendips if it does get going.Everything is moving so slowly and they are almost developing/intensifying in situ.

just watched jay whin on bbc weather and he say's the storms may rumble on through the night in the midlands north,i could get some nice footage of night time storms if rightly so .

Heading right for us.

So we got yet another strike next to the Bristol Channel. One place down here that always seems to get some lightning is Severn Beach Area's etc etc. Noticed that a lot these last 12 months.

Well the charts and other indicators weren't too far out this morning, it's almost 17.00hrs and any fun may be just about to start and almost in the highlighted areas.

That cell to the south is not produced any thunder from what i am hearing. It looks mean but just doesn't sound it.
