Morning all,

Hint of sun trying to break through at the moment after a little rain earlier. Looks like remaining rather cloudy for the rest of the week now, with the worst of any rain during tomorrow, warmest day looks to be Friday.

Possibility of some thundery-type rainfall Mon/Tues, clearing into the Continent on Weds. but thats a long way off yet. Hope we have some nice weather next week for the racing at Royal Ascot (Tues-Sat).

Talk of thunder reminds me it was around this time, many moons ago, that my thunder phobia began. Massive t/storm hit the Bromley area, began around midnight and was still going just after dawn. Not sure of the exact date but a look at these charts from that time and you can see they scream thunder potential! Will have you thunder enthusiasts drooling. Lovely "Spanish Plume" there.

Ha Ha, very good Rob. If you look at the chart for the 8th June and then the 9th, you can see the plume of humid, unstable air lifting north out of Spain and into our region. A beautiful example!

The best Spanish plumes tend to happen in August-September when the North Sea is generally at its warmest point.

My storm aversion began in Summer 2007 and was completed by November 2009 which was a truly dreadful and hideous month with thunder nearly every night and hail against the windows which meant no sleep, a soaked bedroom where the glazing on the window went and also a damaged roof where the storms had caused tears and shifted tiles etc and allowed the constant downpours into the attic Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

It was charts like this - they are easy to rememberPosted Image

and from 2007 the storm that started it all

Ah, Buongiorno Signora Rossi, come stai? Only joking! Posted Image

No, it was definitely a combination of Spanish/French, Tams.

Anyway, here's one for us, a winter-time "Scandinavian/Russian Plume"!

Hi all,

Please all go and wash out your mouth. No more T/S talk thanks Posted Image

Well, grey and miserable again here. Just like me Posted Image

Wishing everyone a nice day

Hi Jan - sorry to hear you are down in the dumpsPosted Image  Don't worry, I just said to Tom that we should change the subject from stormsPosted Image I guess the garden is going to welcome the rain as it is very dusty out there. That is a positive spin to put on the wet weather we have over the next couple of days or so

sotto voce...Posted Image Posted Image

It means broadly speaking (and probably with wrong grammar) lets change the subject to winter (in terms of the chart that Tom posted) Although actually some nice summer weather would be good first of all of coursePosted Image

Weather bright in Norwich and quite warm. It was sunny at 6am ish.

Have a good rest of the day, folks. :)

Thank you lovely Tamara for your kind wishes Posted Image

Just got to work. Sun poked through at Addington and then a fine misty drizzle descended from the hills, warm and muggy with it though. Cloudy and seems cooler in Croydon now.

Nice to see you around Jan but sorry to hear you're having a rough time! Posted Image Hope you have a better day today.

Careful Tams, mind those eels in your hovercraft, waiting to pounce!

No, agree, you cant beat a bit of Inverno, can you.

Tom.
