Based on convergence, vorticity, jet dynamics, and instability the best place to see a storm today and tomorrow is......

.....not in this region (or even this country)....

So who fancies storms in our region on the 19th, maybe even overnight? (I know not all of you will!)

A long way out, but fingers crossed:

Morning all :)

I'm sure you'll be forgiven ;)

Still, isn't it great to see the grey cloud streaming in from the oposite direction? Really makes a refreshing change!

Quiet in here this morning. It's the relentless grey skies dulling people's motivation to post. And from Surbiton to Uxbridge this morning, the skies were indeed relentlessly grey:(  Anyway, to cheer myself up, I'm off for my annual appraisal, hmmm...

A lot of rain gathering in the southwest and moving NE, looks like it'll be rather wet afternoon/evening.

You guys on the south coast need to hold tight later today and tonight into tomorrow...

Hi Surrey!

Was looking at those earlier, not sure how much wind will make it to this area, but I'm glad I don't wear a toupée

Good afternoon one and all. Mr Coast's comment above just about sums it up for today. Very windy here in Nw London and I see the Met Office have issued warnings for strong winds on Thursday for a large part of our region, both inland and coastal areas.

Have a good day folks

Dry and quite sunny, 21C...

Pete, you must be under the only smidgen of cloud-free sky in our region at the moment!

Strong, gusty winds from the southwest or west, have the potential to gust to over 40 mph quite widely on Thursday, and in excess of 50 mph at a few locations. The strongest winds will transfer eastwards through the day, clearing eastern areas by evening. Given the time of year, with trees in full leaf and some holiday traffic and activities, the public should be aware of the possibility of localised minor impacts.

A rather tight area of low pressure will track across central Britain on Thursday, with a swathe of strong winds to the south. Although gusts will fall well short of those usually associated with warnings, the unseasonable element increases the risk of minor disruption to travel or summer activities.

I think they are hedging their bets in case it does blow up a hooley! I'll have a look at a few charts later and see what we might have in store :good:

It might be worse as it exits East Anglia into the North sea this time tomorrow onwards:

Fourth day in a row here where it's actually got darker after midday although I was afforded a 30 minute glimpse of the sun late yesterday evening. Currently 15.9c here. Another dreich day it is then. Posted Image

You could put up with this nonsense in October, maybe November - but June? I demand a refund, where do I apply? Posted Image

Another crap 'summers' day here, 17C, drizzle and the wind is increasingly strong and gusty. Vile. Tomorrow looks joyful with gales, I really do think this summer is going to be just like the last 5....ie, rubbish!!!

The Met Office tend to exaggerate wind speeds. I usually subtract about 10 to 15mph from their estimated wind gust speeds for here

The NAE suggests a strongish breeze certainly but any gales look reserved for a few plankton in the channelPosted Image It is the threat of storms next week that bothers me much more than some ordinary wind and rain.
