July 2013 CET Forecasts / Competition

Recommended Posts

I'll go for a wildly optimistic month of 16.8c.

They said we would never have a winter month below 3.0c again whihch happened,

So on that basis, an above average summer month must be possible.

Ok, fairly confident that July will be above average, but as always it's a question by how much?

I will go for 17.4c please and dryer than average.

The first few weeks of July are looking warm and very dry but I'll stick with my guess of 16.8c allowing for any unsettled spells which will probably arrive at some point

Analogues mean suggest a 17.225C, but includes 2011 (15.2) which is beginning to drift further from this year based on teleconnections.

The similarities with 2006 are looking very strong, though its very unlikely we'd get a repeat of that month, and the lower SSTs should hold temperatures back a little too.

So on that basis, I'm going to go with 17.8C

I was quite confident about going for something in the 17  to 18 range but now the NOAA analogues are backing away from these good years. Much more mixed in the last couple of days.

Hedging, I'll go for 16.7c.

Being on the cooler end of predictions i could gain a lot of points if there's a good correction towards the end of the month.
