There's loads of haze/cloud, the cloud is patchy but constantly blocking the sun :(

Looking at Sat 24 it seems to building.

23.1c currently.

Really quite cloudy in Leeds right now - the sun is currently obscured. Completely unexpected.

Temp here warming up nicely, fluctuating but already reached 21C (todays predicted high). Seems to have been warmer than expected with less sea breeze influence yesterday and today. Tomorrow is when the warmth/heat is meant to properly start down here with a forecast high of 27C.

Just a little interesting detail I've noticed, interesting how todays hotspot, quite possibly Yorkshire, coincides with a cooler pool of 850hpa temps:

Looking on Weather Online the NAE has some of the coolest 850hpa temps there: http://expert-images.weatheronline.co.uk/daten/proficharts/en/nae/2013/07/06/basis06/ukuk/t850/13070615_0606.gif and the other hotspot of London.

Whereas the warmest 950hpa temps are there: http://expert-images.weatheronline.co.uk/daten/proficharts/en/nae/2013/07/06/basis06/ukuk/t925/13070615_0606.gif

(a notable inversion off SW England too)

Yes so very different that we are! At least you get your way the majority of the time - for me this kind of weather perfection is extremely brief and a decent length spell like this hasn't occurred in 7 years!

Sorry you're not enjoying it but rest assured it won't last long... we're a cool, damp country so overall if you like damp & cool you'll end up the winner in the UK!

I know, I know! And I'm genuinely happy for all you heat lovers - even I must acknowledge that you've had it bad for the last few summers. But I'll never get my head around how anyone can enjoy it, all the same! Just managed five minutes outside tending to plants before throwing the towel in - the heat is most certainly here, now.

Whereas I've been sat in the garden collecting seeds from my mizuna plants for replanting... in full sun. Had to come in for a bit as its extremely strong today under the crystal clear skies.

24.4c so far - will we finally make it to 25c? Surely today...

This is another thing the models are UTTERLY useless at predicting - convective cloud buildup. Really disappointed with today - still feels warm but I expected so much more. If the cloud manages to clear within the next 2 hours then perhaps the forecast high of 26C at least can be achieved, but if this cloud sticks around all day then we are likely to continue fluctuating between 22 and 23C. I put the blame partly down to  humidity - stations generally reporting 23C with dews of 15C - much preferred May 2012's weather with temps of 25C and dews below 10C, completely killing convective cloud.

Blah. Moan moan grumble grumble.

Mostly clear skies now and the temperature is climbing quickly, from 19C to just under 22C in an hour.

That's a lot warmer than Liverpool Airport is currently showing, just 23C there, not sure it's accurate Backtrack!

Currently 22.4C here now, with a lighter sea breeze than yesterday, better than the forecast 18! Posted Image

I'm unsure how accurate it is, but the local weather station is currently saying 24.7C. Yesterday got to 25.7C, but temperatures didn't seem to peak until about 3-4, so there's the chance that it still has an hour or two to get warmer.  Posted Image
