Haar has finally lifted this morning and the sun is out as I type. Very welcome as I'm on holiday today!

Black as night now after a dull very humid day .Just waiting for the thunder and lightning. Currently 17c. Hope forecast for next week is correct and we can commence harvest.

All we got was some torrential bursts of rain and then some steadier rain. Cloud movements and colour suggested thunder but we did not get any.

Is there thunder and lightning on the cards and if so, where? Two grey bland days here. Raining now though.

Have to say after all that that was a pretty decent week's weather up north with some really good sunny & BREEZY spells.

It's noticeably warmer at home now, although it's crappy dreich this morning - 15C and persistent drizzle.

All early garden crops now up and stored, and it's the turn of the runners to be in glut.Posted Image

Rain's just starting here. Been a poor few days with no sunshine since Wednesday. Thankfully next week looks better, quite a few places are running below average when it comes to sunshine this month (figures to date):

Leuchars 99 hours

Edinburgh 85 hours

Glasgow 81 hours

Aviemore 80 hours

Interestingly the last time we had a day with more than 10 hours of sunshine was back on July 19th!

Another horrible start to the day. Haar, 15c. No doubt that west is best, looking at the satellite images.

The sun came through here and it felt quite warm with a max of 20C. Took the dog for a walk and swim at Tentsmuir in NE fife and hit the haar. Only really lapping on to the beach itself though. Quite strange to see so many people there in the mist with even a few hardy souls going in for a swim.

By the time we came back the haar was drifting up the river but only a thin cover. The higher South end of the road bridge was clear while the North was in fog. A strange effect which I think my daughter managed to capture with her mobile.

Well, with the schools back it was time to re-start the kids football on Saturday. After a good summer there were high hopes for the parents being able to watch from the sidelines in relative warmth, with perhaps a chance of shorts being the rare choice of clothing? Nope, not a chance, the curse of kids football struck again and we were stood there in the rain, of varying intensities, for the whole of the match!

On the brighter side, Sunday was a glorious day after some early cloud and mist cleared. Had a really enjoyable couple of hours out on the bike around the back roads in warm sun and a gentle breeze. It was still warm enough for just a t-shirt on a post-dinner walk around the local woods with the family and the dog.

Today started of misty first thing but that's dissipated now so it's decent looking outside, but not particularly sunny.

Stunning warm & sunny morning here <gloat>

There were a few dips of moisture on some of our windows this morning for the first time though...

dips?? drips!!

This afternoon there was a Small Copper in the garden - first time I've seen one here: a sign of a good summer!

Fantastic hot sunny afternoon with bit of a breeze.Must have been well into the twenties as barley crop really dried and was coming in at 17% moisture. Not long stopped with nearly half crop cut in a very busy day. If you get the right weather then these big combinespost-2744-0-49150200-1377558704_thumb.jp can clear a lot of acres in the day. Straw a bit green and  damp however so will have to risk it getting wet overnight and bale it on a dryer day
