Loks like the last hurrah coming through...not much left on radar...

Apart from the last (surely!) cell rumbling past to my SE

Big erruptions on radar. A couple of short vicious downpours a short while ago. Looking angry here now.

cC, HAHA! LOL, it's probably so annoyed at the unfair lack of lightning in the west.

I'm used to it now. Absolutely nothing doing here today. Just a bit of cumulus floating around.

i'll mail this huge exploding cu priority dispatch. Mind you in your neck of the woods, as soon as you unpack it, it will sink faster than a fairy cake in a swimming pool.

Cell developed just north of Bristol and had a few 50p sized rain drops from a nothing cloud here a few minutes ago.

Seems to be a broken line of convection from SW England up to the North York Moors looking at vis satellite, storms in places along the line - particularly across N Yorks and few storms down across Gloucestershire/Somerset. Think this line maybe the cold front - be interesting to see if storms continue along the front as it edges further east.

Just got in and seen the latest radar. That line of storms in the northeast has just erupted. Looks like Whitby is getting a good storm.

I am paying interest to the storm near Gloucester as whatever develops around that area would likely head this way.

Certainly a lot of rapid convection around here at the moment. Was going to head off the storm to my east  west but it isn't well formed or active at the moment. so wont waste petrol

As Nick says a definite line from around Bristol to Whitby with a random storm behind this line in Lancashire. The line is to my NW at the minute so I am hoping that it will pep up before it gets here.

Currently the storm near Gloucester is fairly weak, it needs a bit of a kick I think.

Looking at the overnight charts, is there a chance of some thundery activity continuing into the evening despite the loss of diurnal heating?

Still some CAPE about.

Convective precipitation still there.

14.15UTC visible satellite image (courtesy of Dundee Satellite Receiving Station) shows nicely the line of convection from SW England through The Midlands and up to North York Moors:

Indeed, just mentioned that in the regional thread. Also a clear line of convection to my south east and east showing where things may head if they keep together.

That line of thunderstorms around the Whitby area missed me by about 15 miles but looked impressive on radar. Story of my summer on storm watch so close yet so far.

Would love those storms to the SW of Cornwall to move NE along the cold front and hit here this evening :)

Had a great drive from Kent to Colchester this morning, chasing the storms all the way! When I got there had 3 storm cells rumbling around and saw multiple cg's on my way. Good convective day! So is that it for the SE?
