Virtual constant thunder at one stage but didn't see any lightning.

Blimey a lot of storms in the SE. The models had been suggesting something but not to that extent.

4,564 strikes at the moment for the UK.

Met Office are suggesting thundery showers here developing later this afternoon and evening. Which won't happen of course!

5 Storms this morning, 3 largeish ones to the West all training between Basildon and East London and a few clippers up the coast that have been grumbling away, all of them elevated but very pretty, lots of Cg's observed and rapid intensification from Alt Cas to Storm in a matter of 15 minutes.

Like Dan some pictures from this morning.

Drove back to Croydon from Kent earlier this morning and core punched on the M20/A20 near M25 junction in N Kent through a line of thunderstorms moving quickly NNE - very heavy rain which I haven't experienced since chasing in the states. A lot of low cloud obscuring the base of these storms too when I was underneath, so didn't make out much lightning apart from 1 CG. Cloud was so low it was cloaking the North Downs and was moving very fast too.

use a MW radio if you want to know when the lightning is and you can't see it for what ever reason.

Snooze fest for here. Very unlikely to be anything. Showers out west seem to be fading, skies are messy and the see storms clearly suggest the instability is over there. :(

According to the charts, us here in North West now entering the peak time for thunder storms this avo, just had a very short sharp shower, they seem to be forming over the Irish sea. Local BBC radio also forecast showers with chance of thunder becoming widespread this afternoon

Met office shows precip breaking out in the midlands and west this afternoon but will it be thundery? I will check the charts after I finish work. I maybe better to head west rather than east as the east stuff will be moving away.

Rather disappointing, been looking forward to today but now i cant really see anything happening in my area looking at the charts :/ Glad people in the SE got a storm, looked like a monster on the radar earlier!

shame was within a couple of miles of an epic storm, someone we had two storms miss us, one hit Caister and the other hit Lowestoft, got a little bit of heavy rain but that was it.

No shower here, but yes, CAPE builds to a max between now and 1900 hours. Can hear the docks very clearly today with this southerly wind.

It was a very short shower but came down heavy for, I would say, less than 5 mins sun is out again and temp has gone up to 26.9c, fingers crossed. Might make my way to the beach to see
