There are storms over cornwall progressing slowly eastwards. Never seen my storm tracker so active!

Looks like those clouds that the Cloud Appreciation Society is pushing to get officially named "asperatus".

Meanwhile, nowt in Sandhutton again- thundery downpours have been skirting around to the west and east of my location, nothing close enough to even be able to hear any thunder, though there have been some good cloud formations visible.

Not a huge amount of sferics around the Midlands Posted Image

I would go and have tea but knowing my luck, the moment my back is turned there will be a severe thunderstorm along with a tornado 2 miles away that will be gone by the time I check back lol.

I think the Cold Front went through Wiltshire late morning, the fax chart for 0600 showed the cold front with a trough either side of it. So the SE storms tis morning were on one trough, the sporadic showers that affected the West Country late morning were the front and the storms breaking out to the West now are on the 2nd trough.I may be wrong though! But the temperature dropped from 24c to 21c around lunchtime despite a clearance to unbroken sunshine while the win switched from SSW to W.

Yes cold front went through here at lunchtime and temperatures did fall briefly but then back up to 24C in places this afternoon. Lively storms in the SW may have our name on them later in the night.

A lovely sunny day here for the most part, however cloud has thickened considerably in the past hour to the east, with some patchy rain and quite a lot of thunder. No lightning as of yet, but lighning radar indicating activity locally.

Edit - much heavier rain here now.

Thanks! So excited to have seen this cloudscape, super little storm to the back of it all, some nice CG strikes, was filming time lapse on another camera also but have only just managed to start processing all the stuff I took and that is the only lightning shot I've processed so far from one camera.

That second pic is splendid!!!! Has that distinct mother ship look about it Posted Image

I was thinking so myself Posted Image The storm is much closer now, and it has retained its solid looking anvil. This thing looks like it is on a crash course with me!

Just heard a loud but distant rumble of thunder. Wind picking up now too!

It's doing anything but dying. Was just a moderate small shower when it started here...left here as a torrential downpour giving us an almighty crack of thunder as it left. It's a grower!

Thunder in the distance, that cell over West Wolverhampton looks like it could be heading this way outside my window.

I'm rather surprised theres not much chatter for fridays offerings?!
Tomaz at 00:00 on news 24 seemed rather excited! Storms starting on the south coast and quickly developing north anywhere east of east wales, some sharp ones into the midlands and yorkshire by afternoon "if you get one boy will you know about it"!

Another big cell heading on a similar track into NE England. Just west of Harrogate at the moment and probably going to pass close to Ripon then hit Northallerton area then Middlesbrough if it keeps going. Looking at how the last cell behaved I think it could be a pretty big active storm by the time it reaches Teesside.

A couple of rumbles per minute coming from this cell. It's only going to clip here but the cloudscape is impressive.

Had a couple of flashes and rumbles this morning. Looked very stormy for a bit, but nothing came of it.

Now showing sferics.

Yes and on its current track and if it doesn't lose its intensity it's in line for the northern NE coast this time rather than Teesside (with a bit of luck!)
