After being woken up by thunder in London, I'm now currently sat under a thunderstorm in Usk (NP15) SE Wales. We got some LOUD rumbles and flashes.

Lots of wonderful cloud structures observed on the drive down the M4. Convection clear to see along the trough now heading up through Western England.

:-)

Cumulonimbus clouds everywhere now, especially to the west. Some have decayed but others look like they are just forming.

Missed out totally today! Hopefully that front moves more Eastwards and sustains its energy.

Come on storms, hurry up before they probably fade. Nocturnal cooling never seems to have been a help this year. Meto seems to suggest showers throughout this region overnight though.

Could see the tops of the Cb on the drive home from work earlier, but couldn't see any lightning from it. Still looked impressive though.

another great shot, this ones looking East, so the sun is lighting it from due west at moment.

huge train of storms funnling over this area at present.

Does anyone know what this front is expected to do in the coming hours? Personally I would like it to start sliding east a little.

I can just about see the front when I look west, so I'm hoping once darkness falls I might at least see some distant lightning flashes.

After starting the day quite oblivious to this risk I would take that.

Managing to resist the temptation to go for a drive at the moment, but if that line keeps active and stays out west I might have to go for a look!

Latest radar suggests some weakening now around Worcester. Hopefully nocturnal cooling will help but probably wont.
