In Bristol at the moment, worth staying put or driving somewhere close by to catch a storm?

The Bristol Channel up towards Gloucester is looking good at the moment, nice line which has strengthened and has sferics.

Do you have a view to your north? I would imagine it looks impressive looking north from Bristol.

I think that bit could be in line to hit Birmingham and places slightly west of the main lot if it keeps going, maybe even Nottingham.

Thunderstorm is right above me here. One flash a minute ago turned some of my electrics off.

These storms went straight down the middle of most forecasts for today, been quite a surprise to see such a stretched-out anvil since 7pm gradually transition into a cell which gave a few strikes locally, along with quite a stark sunset a rainbow, and mammatus to match.

Didn't expect that! Nice little shower passed around 8.15. Right on the edge so we had bright sunshine, heavy rain & rumbles of thunder at the same time!

It's was gloriously sunny a few hours ago - skies have darkened very quickly - though most of the action seems to be frustratingly out of reach to the East of me.  Filthy skies over Pennines.

Beginning to fizzle out now. So only a distant storm here to report.

Fairly frequent lightning and thunder out to my west, very dark cloud bases in the Bristol Channel.

The sun has gone down now so i'm expecting things to slowly wind-down into the late evening, the front looks to be subtly moving east now anyway so I think for me that's the action over with. Off to the local for some different kind of 'strobe lights' at the karaoke.

I caught today's storm in NI on camera if anyone is interested. I got the extremely heavy downpours and sped up some footage of the storms structure as it approached. Got some loud thunder but didn't get any of the lightning on film Posted Image

Thunder and lightning every 2-3 seconds to my north, south and west. Some brillant bright pink CG. Lightning almost as frequent as el-brumo back in last June.

Thunder and lightning to the east of me, around the Clay Cross area by the look of it; not even a spot of rain here.

Quite impressive I can see flashes of lightning from here when I look W/SW.

Looks like I'm seeing the cell near Uttoxeter which must be 30-40 miles away.

Better than nothing I suppose, I'm still keeping an eye on the cell around Gloucester which is tracking slightly further east than most.

Pinning my hopes on that at the moment.

Wow just seen fork lightning too.

Can see the whole cold front here in Borough! A whole panoramic, unbroken view of it !! Looks incredible.

With a bit of luck, with such a strong jet aloft, generating a lot of shear, this may last well into the night.

P.S Storm has just erupted in the channel heading NNE-NE I believe. :)

What a fantastic evening, two thunderstorms, amazing cloudscapes, and torrential rain. The things dreams are made of.

The first storm, the sun was out the whole time.

Distant lightning once again. Some good cloud formations around but it's like having a beautiful girlfriend who always closes the door at the end of night.
