the phrase 'much ado about nothing' sums up the likely effects for our region from the first autumnal low pressure of the season to affect the UK.....As AWD posted yesterday, apart from perhaps coastal regions it should be a fairly benign day, with showery rain spreading south eastwards this afternoon, some places may even stay dry, and increasingly breezy as we go into the evening, South facing coasts will see the breeziest conditions this afternoon, switching to north and west facing coasts overnight as winds veer to the north west

Interestingly I compared radar against bbc forecast this morning and they show more organised rain over us today but the radar show just some light patchy rain... Posted Image No more than a slight breeze outside currently.

Really? I think it's going to be more than breezy in most places in SW England, today. It's going to be more like very windy on the S coasts and windy inland. Wind gusts inland: 20 - 30 mph Wind gusts near the S coasts: 30 - 40 mph Wind gusts on the S coasts: 40 - 45 mph.

The winds have just picked up here, certainly the windiest day since Spring  and the peak is later on.

Currently bang on 15C. Posted Image

Pretty breezy out there with odd stronger gust here in Falmouth. Nothing out of the ordinary though. We are too far South for anything interesting today.

Ground is quite dry now with this steady gentle cooling breeze. It's quite pleasant working in it to be honest.

If only all autumn 'storms' were like this one Posted Image Posted Image

I keep looking into that winter forecast/hopes thread and it isn't good for my health so early! Posted Image

yep, nothing more than a gentle, occasionaly moderate breeze here....hi-res modelling shows the winds at their strongest pretty much now and then abating during the evening to nothing more than light breezes, which picks up again overnight as winds veer to a north westerly with strongest winds (no more than 25 mph mean) through the bristol channel....highest gusts anywhere no higher than 40 mph on exposed coasts and high ground of the moors.....nothing spectacular whatsoever here regardless of what the 'wild weather rampers' might have you believe!

I was fishing the influx of leaves out of the pond when a drizzard hit, soaked in seconds! A 26mph gust and a 2 minute mean of 12mph. I like cosy afternoons like this, just a shame there's no F1 on this weekend. Posted Image

It has turned a tad wetter now, 3.2mm so far. There's been several accidents on the roads due to tricky driving conditions (or general poor driving) Posted Image

Nice to experience a day like this again but too many of them would drive me round the bend. As beautifully put further up the page - a real drizzard this afternoon with the wind strengthening from not much this morning to some substantial gusts now. Is that a squall line forming on the back edge of the rain?

Yep - It looks like we'll see one more small blast of rain/gusty winds before it calms down. There could be a few beefy showers for the South West tomorrow morning  as well.
