bloody lovely drive home across the fens from Norwich into the sunset..

It's lovely, but I find a drive back after a day at the sea, incredibly tiring with the sun in your eyes all the way home. That said, I invested in some RayBans at the Duty Free in Jersey and they really make life easier.

This was taken on the way back from Aldeburgh in August... it was so amazing we stopped the car.

And I was just getting accustomed to this dry, sunny and cool autumn weather......

Spent most of the day doing indoor activities today. But when I did go outside it was lovely blue skies, but felt nippy.... Currently 12c here.

After major pressure from my wife, the heating is now on.... Wasn't happy at first, but at least I can now take my jumper and coat off. Feels really nice now 😄

Its always the sensationalists (I think you know who I'm referring too) make these forecasts so early. I'm just going to stick to here and the MO. Between the two we will get a very good idea what is in store / going to happen.

It will last longer though, the worry is not so much this event but exisiting damage from before.

Weakened trees, full rivers, sodden ground etc.

A solid 6 hours with gusts over 50 could cause some disruption

Sigh....Ashdown Forest now saturated....my stream is well-primed and can now only cope with about a 15mm rainfall dump over an hour or two.

...........unpacks the wellingtons and guinea pig water wings....puts the flood barriers back up..orders skip for friday to clear the existing and future debris from the stream.

Thinks about getting tree surgeons in to lop 20ft off the eucalyptus before saturday evening as it was struggling badly on monday and would have ended up directly in my bedroom if it fell

This is not looking like the best of Autumns for me. For the first time ever I'm actually wiling it to start snowing early Posted Image

hi piggiepalace

sorry to hear that

wish there was better news at present but keep your eye on the forecasts as there is a slim chance this may be

being overcooked by the charts at present

should know by tomorrow but whether that is too late for you i dont know

hopefully things will calm down by the next couple of weeks

a long time in weather but hopefully the atlantic will calm down

and give us a rest from this wind and rain

take care

john

Ha ha! Have the same standoff here, she's got a cold so insists that the heating dial has to be turned up to 25 degs. When she's not looking I put it back to 18 :-)I tried to explain that turning it up so high wont make it heat up any faster :-)

Haha nice one. I wouldn't mind the heating on, on a low heat. But my wife want the heating on full blast with each thermostat at 6.... That's why I try keeping it off as long as possible. BTW I don't really sit indoors wearing a coat and jumper hahaha

Reading the  'wives want the heating on' posts did make me chuckle. I used to be like that to, but 21 was the max I liked it.

I've discovered that when one becomes a 'woman of a certain age' you get a built in heating system, and now it's hubby complaining it's cold instead. He just gets told he's inappropriately dressed Posted Image

Pub run has downgraded the wind potential on Saturday evening, to my eyes.

Yep fully agree with that.... We have fine rain here now too.I'm off to bed now, back to work tomorrow after two action packed days with the family. The weather can do what it wants now, as long as it's quite, as I need sleep😄Good evening all.

Unfortunately rainfall could become a serious issue. In addition to the rain tonight, the weather warning low on Friday and the low on Saturday, GFS 18z is also giving us this on Sunday evening!
