For an hour or so around midday the fog here did thin out a tad, but it's getting thicker again now despite fairly bright looking skies overhead. That suggests to me that the fog is fairly low lying, and moving around in 'banks'.  If that's the case it's the worst possible scenario for anyone out and about on the roads this afternoon.

Thanks Coast.

Does this work?

No it doesn't.  I need to go out. Will try again later.

I think you need to lie on your right hand side and take a photo, as normal. Should work then. :winky:

I don't think anyone with an ounce of sense thinks that winter 'is over' in terms of wintry potential to kickstart the snow season - simply that it is unlikely to happen in the foreseeable future.

That aside, it is a very pleasant winters day with morning frost and ice along with blue skies and winter sunshine. It is a lot lot better than misty grey gloom, wind and rain for surePosted Image

I told you before about your spellingPosted Image

Uffa scusa but can you please refrain from customising my location Tamarina! If you must the original name was actually Cyselhyrst, see below.

Hi Ali,

There are only a couple of races left now but Cloudy Bob (3.10 Leics) looks to be the only weather related runner, on the card but as I can barely tip myself out of bed, ignore it!

Tom.

Posso dire una cosa cara, non sei di nazionalità mista te stesso, compresa una parte Ebraico Dea?

Ciao bella,

On a weather related/horse racing issue, Lingfield Park was abandoned a little while ago, after just 2 races, due to fog.

Cleared for a little while but then descended again.

Strewth, I think I've got lost in the fog and wandered into a language school website in my confusion.Posted Image

Some wide variations across our region with some locations along the south coast reporting visibilty of 10,000+metres, Heathrow reporting 3,000 metres, and Northolt ( about 7 miles from Heathrow ) reporting 200 metres. Holbeach is currently 25 metres. Tricky conditions out there folks.

Looks like tomorrow morning will be a carbon copy for fog according to MetO:

That could be a useful sign for Paul to put up in the MOD thread when he attempts to moderate the few farts in there. Posted Image Posted Image It is usually very easy to spot them, they never offer much content of worth and I'm not talking about myself on this occasion, well I hope not. Posted Image

Afternoon all

Been a busy day, various critical I.T. related issues commanded most of my time today, never good.

Anyway about to nip out but should not take long, on a weather note the fog has already returned here, in fact it is worse now than it was this morning, feels cooler out but not that cold though, just very damp and murky.

Stewards now inspecting the course at Kempton Park (between Hampton Court and Sunbury on Thames), due to thick fog, for this evenings floodlit racing.

There is, of course, a lot of water in the area, reservoirs, (lake in the middle of the course) and the river, which is obviously aiding the formation of fog, over the track.

Similar to round here, a lot of water in the area so we do see quite a bit of fog/mist/murk.

True enough Tom, and the fog has been reluctant to clear all day in the general area of south west/west/north west London. Perhaps you can start a Fog Cup just in case we don't get any snow.Posted Image
