No car for two months so it can stop raining now! Snow I don't mind walking to school then work in but rain I do mind...

Still warm (8c) and raining, windy. A touch of unexpected frost here this morning though.

Had a look at what the weather was like last year and for the first ten days it was warm too before cooling down to some frosty nights and snow at times. Maybe this'll happen this year too!

That nasty lump of showers which has just left the Channel Islands looks to be heading for the far SE corner. We have missed most of the rain so far today, so I suppose it's only fair. The wind is definitely picking up too. Probably won't be here until close to midnight.

just looking at the radar and the inbound stuff rain wise seems to be losing intensity as it leaves water, so mayhap the next lot will not be as intense.

Stopped raining here a while ago but that wind is rather potent.

The wind very much gusting up now, it's these winds that are expected to blow in more heavy downpours tonight/tomorrow, with a very convective window there is the possibility of lightning+thunder and hail.

!!!!

Just watching the radar and the colours seem to indicate the rainfall amounts are dropping as they make landfall :)

Not really related to our area, but I find this interesting...

I've just looked at the shipping forecast, on the Met Office site, for sea area 'Sole' which is the area extending from the southwest of Cornwall, westwards to the edge of the map.

No wonder there are such big waves being predicted for the southwest tomorrow! The forecast doesn't even say 'occasionally phenomenal' or 'perhaps phenomenal later.' It's straight in there. Posted Image A pretty rare sight!

Round 2 of heavy rain approaching from the SW, managed to squeeze an unexpected flash and distant rumble out the first lot around 7.45pm.

Seen more thunderstorms this winter (so far) than I did all of last summer!

BBC weather was much to the same point a little earlier too.  Just a *stern* warning of what the system will be pushing their way (and others).

Are the winds over the next day or two going to be as damaging as those we have recently had - trying to see if there are any updates on the travel sites but nothing seems to be showing for our area at the moment -wonder if this is likely to change

Only had one thunder storm this winter so far here, had three over the summer two of which lasted for a few hours. Saw plenty of flashes in the channel though after this winters storm.

I very much doubt it.

Definitely windy, for sure, but unlikely to be damaging, except if we get strong squall lines, which would be hard to predict more than a few hours before such an event. :)

Still really calm here, which is a little odd considering how strong the wind was at Reedham earlier, it has however got quite cold, I need my shawl again tonight.

It does go more calm for a short while but then as the next lots passes through it seems to pick up again.  I just got up to look out the back door and the tree in the back garden is rather mobile again.
