Very Threatening and dark to my west (In Camden). The heavier shower clouds always seem to take this path through NW London towards Herts/Essex - always seems to be darker over there!

I agree, sink holes are this weeks polar vortex as far as the media are concerned. Lazy journalism at it's worst.

Oh by the way, several hours of moderate rainfall here in north west London last night. Posted Image

They've not had a Polar Vortex story yet.

Why, I don't know... perhaps it's because there shouldn't be one after all their global warming guff. I mean the North Pole is supposed to be like a chillier Caribbean by now isn't it?

Afternoon, finally home after my long weekend. It's been lovely to have a couple of days off. Caught the edge of a very heavy shower near Chelmsford on the way home.

Thanks to all the birthday wishes yesterday :)

I was stone cold sober throughout my birthday, mainly due to having to do lots of driving today. That hasn't happened in a long time Posted Image

Weather stuff - It's sunny here in Saffron Walden

This stopping in and being good (not going to the pub) has thrown up a problem...

...I need more milk to make tea with (bugger, that means I have to go out! At least it is dry).

Almost feels like Spring out there, it kind of smells like Spring as well. The birds are singing and it's still light past 5 o'clock. Winter is dead and it will certainly go down as one of the snow free Winters ever.

Wow.... it's like a ghost town on the main thread.

Makes me nostalgic for the "that ECM" days when it felt like we had 40 pages worth of posts over one Model run.

At this rate we'll be lucky to get 40 pages in before the end of 2014!

Going to have a couple of bottles of ale tonight.

Big convective cell approaching here, will there be thunder?

It was very springy today almost felt like April, with warm sun and heavy showers. My tree is budding two months earlier than it should. For it to be quiet in the main thread, usually means, lack of any dramatic weather and nothing much to argue about.

Amazing images show giant reservoir plughole draining gallons of rainwater a minute

giant plugholes do exist after all, from the daily express btw, no weather stories or diana stories today.

I thought I saw some areas were due storms today. It feels very mild. I haven't had to wear a winter coat at all this winter! Just a shrug and a wrap. Good the rivers are starting to recede although I know alerts still high and people aren't out of the woods.

Rivers may be going down and stuff but the water in my garden is coming up at a rate of knots! The sandbags are now failed and water is coming under them and is higher the sandbag side than ever before.. It's about 2-3 feet deep at the end of the garden now..

How far from the river is your house? It sounds worrying that the water is still rising, have you had any more rainfull today?
