For those saying forecasts were wrong today as it did not rain much at your location well rest assured that just up the road they have had your share as well as their own!

As an example for Wales today:

Pembrey 24mm

Mumbles 0.6mm

Trawscoed 26.2mm

Llanwnnen 12mm

And try telling the good folk of Burry Port it did not rain as forecast today

After just the odd drip of rain yesterday we have just had a belt of torrential rain pass through for the past hour - monsoon-like vertical stair rods.

Ironically this one had no Met Office severe weather alert associated, whereas most recent alerts have come to nothing in this location!

Looking at the radar we have another short pulse to follow in about an hours time and then might get a half decent day.

The lawn is already looking better for its drenching!

absolute downpour here now as a narrow band of torrential rain trains up from the south coast..Could be looking at some large local totals through the spine of England as this moves north

Atrocious this morning, and yesterday, standard 'modern' August weather really...

Looking at the radar there persistent rain last night, but drier this morning, with a few showers. Rather damp though than very wet outside.

Local Station suggests between 12-17 of mm in past 24 hours.

Interestingly Pembrey Sands is already at 31mm, which is already above July's final total.

Do hope some of the rain comes our way that is on the radar in the south west.

Its been missing us lately, no matter where its come from.

Had a few drops on Monday, but last rain, about 1mm was 19th July and before that was 7mm on 8th July.

Really need it for the garden.

We caught the batch that came through between 04.00 and 08.00 dropping 13.3mm.  Since then, we've been right on the edge and just another 0.5mm since.  Clearance quite obvious looking towards Yeovil and not much more showing to the south.  Hope that might be it for today.

Camp Bestival weekend is usually good for rainfall and it's happened again, mud bath down there I bet.

Oddly enough, in the festival area it doesn't get muddy due to great drainage from the chalk and limestone underneath. The carpark might be as they were complaining of dust problems yesterday, it was akin to the Sahara. I'm sneaking in tonight so I'll let you know tomorrow. lolAnother 2mm has fallen here in a heavy shower. 18.6mm now.

Very ironic in this most excellent of summers that the 2 wettest days of the last 8 weeks have come on Saturdays! (19th July storms and today)

'Only' 21.2mm here.

I think that is what we call evening out.

IMO the Met Office warning in relation to this was pretty accurate even if UKMO4 although being very accurate in the pattern did overdo rainfall totals a bit. post-213-0-72940000-1406976020_thumb.gif

Clearly August has started on a wet note, and no signs of any immediate change. But will the rest of the month be wet, or will we end up being around average. Time will tell.
