The cold air is even making it all the way to south of Spain.

Temp peaked at 18'C this morning but dropped to 15'c now after a brief shower.

Nothing new to report from Sheffield. We got a few flakes and a slight covering last night but thats long since melted. There is definately some melting going on today too. I thought it wouldnt be as bad as yesterday with the cold air filtering down, but plenty of wet patches now. Grr!

Still, looking forward to Tuesday and Wednesday to see what happens and if anything pops up next week :)

Why is there a weather warning out for our area today for snow does the met know something we dont?

The Met Office warnings are just incredibly confusing at the moment. Various warnings overlapping each other and multiple yellow warnings out at the same time. I guess it allows more flexibility with drawing warning areas but I think the old system where fixed parts of each county were shaded in worked better.

Currently raining again here. Horrible grey, wet day.

I suspect it's for tonight and rain sleet and snow moving down the east of the uk. Too far east for us in Sheffield but some may have a nice surprise tomorrow morning

was very strange here went from *rain to snow to sleet then heavy snow then rain then sleet* just shows how marginal it is. Hopefully we can get something decent with the warning covering us over the next few days.

Feeling very pleasant here in on Costa del Sol.

Temp shot back up to 19'C in the very strong sunshine.

I'll fetch this weather back with me in morning.

Ha! youd better not lol. I dont want any warmth until at least April. I want to keep as much as this snow depth as I can this week and hopefully top it back up Tues and Weds.

I hope we get a very cold February and a March to rival 2013 :p  The way all the background signals are going I wouldnt be surprised if we get the perfect synoptics in place just a little too late and it leads to a cold spring!

I think the Netweather warning is likely to be much more accurate. The Met Office one is contradictory.

afternoon everyone, well after the wonderful snow we had this morning, huge flakes and was heavy for a time, its now like it never snowed at all, temps of 4c, broken cloud and sun trying to break through, forecast is for rain tomorrow and then dry till wednesday, on the plus side we have had falling snow on 3 days this winter, which is 3 more than last winter, lol

Horrible day here rain, sleet, snow jst vile. What i would give for an North Easterly at the min with heavy snow showers or longer spells of snow piling in off  the north sea. Us low lying areas East of the A1 have struggled for any decent snowfall so far this winter. Cant grumble to much though better then last winters by far lots of hard frosts and an couple of dustings of snow jst be nice to be an degree or so colder to marginal at min.

There has definately been a good bit of melting today, anybody who says other wise is telling porkies.

The melt pretty much stopped at lunch ish when the cloud cleared away. I think above 300m there has been little or no melt with elevations lower than that suffering varying amounts of melt down to sea level where there is all but nothing.

Even though it snowed last night it really wasn't that cold, tonight will be cold if it stays clear, and tomorrow is going to be a lot colder than today has been.

In the words of James May...'This winter is cock'...we have a gale force Nly coming from the Arctic region...in January...it's 1degC...and it's raining...!!! it should be snow all the way, in the 80's i fished regularly along the east coast and even in November when we had Nly gales it was snow, even at 2-3degC, i've seen 3" of snow on the beach several times in the past so what the frack is going on this winter...i'm really miffed...if you can't tell...

Temperature up to 4c here now. Not even the slightest hint of any snow left. The wind is bitter however.

We do have warnings out for today and tomorrow for snow and ice but the radar doesn't really look that promising at the moment.

Ah well, here's hoping for a change of fortunes soon!

Edit. Just noticed that the Warning for our part of the region relates to a feature that is expected to track South in the early hours of tomorrow morning. Why are these things always due to affect our region at Stupid O'Clock?!
