LS wants to get his butt back fae Switzerland pronto......or Lorenzo to tear himself away from strat analysis ;) ........ just finished wrapping 4 kids worth of presents.....Mrs Claus has gone bonkers online this year....best present would be snow at the weekend though to play in after a couple of days of festive madness

edit right on cue Lorenzo........ legend :)

A real mix in below, depicted by the differences in 850hPa temps, a nowcast if ever there was one !

post-7292-0-46528600-1419378571_thumb.pn

Colder air and lower thickness moving south as weekend moves on.

Over to the radar we go. Hopefully LS will pop in to review Euro4 and 950hPa layers ( the ones that usually scupper the white stuff).

Thank you Santa for a brilliant week of model watching ahead. Likewise would love to get the wee guy out on a sledge and into the snow !

Before I head off to sleep, strat seems in favourable position going from latest runs today, always good to see (can be damper when chart for strat in around 360-384h away), lastly runs look good for E/NE winds over next week or so, with regard to this weekend weather is Scotland in good position for snow based on latest runs? Cheers.

Never been so organised for Christmas. My to do list for today is empty so plenty time to keep updated as charts come out.

Aye, it's been a good one to watch. I'm now a bit wary that the whole thing will track too far south to affect any of us, it has been revised south a long way in recent runs on all models.

Mornin' folks! A really noisy morning here...crash, bang, wallop, flash! Thunderstorm woke me just before 6am. The OH informed me that the lightning was intense....I saw nothing, too busy sending snores up! It has calmed down now, light breeze and rain, 2.5c. Hope you all have a very happy and snowy Christmas, although it doesn't look much like I'll be seeing any over this way! :cold:  :drunk:  :smiliz34:

Not convinced from the projected track of the incoming low this weekend that the NE will benefit from anything... I think we are too far north, if that's not an irony.

But we'll see if the wintry showers being progged for this area Xmas Day bear fruit... or snow!!

cheggers thanks for the santa links....the kids will love that tonight but more importantly do you have the radar link for LS's plane back from Switzerland

mean while from the met

Yellow Alert of Wind and Snow for Central, Tayside & Fife

Yellow Alert of Wind and Snow for Central, Tayside & Fife : Angus, Clackmannanshire, Dundee, Falkirk, Fife, Perth and Kinross & Stirling valid from 1500 Fri 26 Dec to 1500 Sat 27 Dec

A lot of talk of over 200m though so I fear the old story of the last 2 winters........ although should be snow following the storm if we get any precipitation with a chance that the storm is actually snow

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
