Will wait and see what happens.

I too was overly optimistic about the weekend and although we did see some lying snow it was still disappointing.

Met-O forecast says snow for during the night tonight so may get a surprise in the morning.

Edit:- I'll be steering clear of all GFS Precip Type charts as what they show has very little to no bearing on reality.

Strong blustery wind here too this morning. Currently mainly blue skies but with rain showers blowing through at times. Temperature was 7.somethingC (so unexciting I didn't really register the digits after the 7) before I left the house this morning.

Not too hopeful of seeing much in the way of snow this far East this week as there's far too much of a Westerly component to the wind directions. That means the hills will soak up most of our snow, which is disappointing but hopefully it will mean that at least the runs at the ski resorts will start to fill in.

Had a few flurries of snow on Saturday that got the kids excited but not enough to settle unfortunately.

A balmy 11 degrees this morning on way to work.    certainly didn't feel that with the wind though.     Will be interesting to see what the next week brings.   With it all coming from the west,  us east coasters are missing the worst/best of it.

Temps have been slowly dropping here during the morning.   8.2c at 6.30am now sitting at 5.2c/3.2c.   Had a gust of 50.1mph at 6.20am but seems to be easing a bit currently.   Will be happier when we get the track and intensity of this next storm though.   Kinda fed up with all this now.

Well, last night's storm was worse here than the previous two this week.  Probably because it had more of a southerly wind.  It was sustained at 50mph for around an hour from 1am, gusting to 60mph.  Temp now down to 3.6C.

Driving Rain/Wind in your face at half past 5 in the morning walking 3 dogs isn't exactly my idea of fun ;) Was wild this morning but got colder again and would expect wintry showers soon.....................hopefully ;)

Really stormy. Horrendous conditions when rain hits! Bins etc all getting blown away.

Keep hoping for some decent snow but really need winds to be more n/e or e for here.

Quite a violent squall type event here too.   Lasted for a good 15mins.   Heavy sleet towards the end of it.  3.3/2.1

An interesting drive up the road last night, especially over the higher parts of the road, with significant water on the motorway and still a fair few inches of snow at the sides.

Chilly up here today, I'd hazard a guess at 5c but with a strong gusty wind and rain showers pilling in.

Snow is forecast for here in Stirling (met office) so I'll have to wait and see how tomorrow plans out. Certainly a day (yet another one) for staying indoors and avoiding the roads.

They're still updating them but not sure if we'll get one. Wind warning now covers up to the central belt for weds.

agree with grangemouth Bairn Carol did keep emphasising the 100m part..... hopefully that was for today later on and then england tomorrow and just forgot to say down to lower levels in Scotland.... cant help but feel its gonna be the story of the last 2 winters and be so near yet so far

Snow warning released:

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=warnings&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1421107200&regionName=dg

It specifically mentions low levels of the central belt for a few cm...

Edit: The forecaster's assessment actually mentions "several" cm to low levels POSSIBLY, the warning isn't very specific.

If you're talking about Carol of the Kirkwood/BBC variety then the online forecast she did this morning used words similar to "even to low levels".

Tuesday night seems to offer the best possibilities, although Met O are (rightly) a bit non-committal at the moment.

"On Tuesday night a more organised area of showery precipitation is likely to affect Scotland,

which has the potential to produce several centimetres of snow at low levels, including the Central Belt,

though details of this are rather uncertain at present."

Frequent showers of sleet or snow will affect Scotland and Northern Ireland from Monday evening into Tuesday. Accumulations of 2-4 cm of snow are likely above about 100 m, but also to low levels locally, and more widely over the northern half of Scotland, where more than 10 cm is likely above 300 m. Icy patches are likely to develop from early this evening. Hail and lightning will be additional hazards, especially close to western coasts.

During Tuesday the risk of snow extends into northern England, especially across the Pennines and higher parts of Cumbria. Meanwhile, a more persistent spell of sleet and snow may settle at low levels across Scotland on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to transport.

A deep depression passing close to the north of Scotland will pull cold air across the northern parts of the UK as it passes, allowing the frequent showers to fall as sleet or snow in many parts. Near western coasts rain may predominate, although this increases the ice risk as road temperatures fall below zero. Hail and lightning are also likely to be hazards here.

The colder air will extend further south during Tuesday with snow falling to progressively lower levels across northern England. On Tuesday night a more organised area of showery precipitation is likely to affect Scotland, which has the potential to produce several centimetres of snow at low levels, including the Central Belt, though details of this are rather uncertain at present. Ice is also likely to be a hazard again on Tuesday night.

This warning will be reviewed and updated on Tuesday.

Ah well....2-4cm is better than nothing (as the actress said to the bishop!)
