Somebody in the Scotland thread posted this asking what it is??

I wondered how long it would be before the words 'Polar' and 'Low' would be mentioned

I think Polar Low's are very rare and very difficult to forecast. If that is one though, i'll be keeping a close eye on radar and satellite images!!

Yep same here..Riber castle disappeared in a whiteout... some very gusty winds in the heavier showers...

Yeah the are very rare and I didn't think this situation would see them developing but that is certainly something that needs watching... the guys is the Scotland thread were saying 'don't you dare say the words'.... could be a fun packed end of week and weekend...

It's snow! Just reached here. Had horizontal rain, sleet, hail and graupel here today so far. This latest shower is snow.

The odd shower, with snow mixed in, but most of the activity seems just north of here. The sky is very dark & it's probably getting interesting over the Southern peaks.

We just a had a fairly heavy snow shower & im sure I heard a clap of thunder, it certainly went very black however now bright sunshine
