One flash of lightning and a clap of thunder in a heavy snow shower at 1740.

Just over 2cm of lying snow at 1800. Temperature was 0.2c at 1800.

If they have the staying power, showers on a NNW'ly are perfect for IMBY: it's usually the only direction we get anything from Cheshire Gap streamers. A standard NW'ly takes everything to Birmingham, with the classic frustrating setup of seeing snow clouds on the horizon that never get any closer!

Mid Wales definitley seems to be spawning a lot of activity at the moment.

I think we could all do well tonight if this continues!!!

Just to reiterate this point for everyone getting hung up on model outputs.

As you can see it's not even close, and that's about at T6 on the NMM.

Exactly, very good point.

PPN has popped up over Wales in the last 45 mins on the radar. Seemingly out of nowhere!

I'm loving your views on the things!!!!  everything you say won't happen, happens :D  you said low levels will only see rain and it's been SNOW

So now you are saying "only high levels will see a good covering"  JUST CARRY ON....At this rate we'll all be buried

I notice the intensity is so variable, one minute its greens and yellows, then its just blues, then its yellows..... I need to stop analysing every 5 minute timeframe! (netweather extra scale)

Reminds me of an event a few years ago where PPN just grow out of nowhere over the midlands and stalled above us, it gave us some good snow. At least I think I remember it... maybe it was a dream :p My memory is not great but i'm pretty sure it really happened. The important point was it was not forecast at all.

The wind is more westerly at the moment.

Definitely not north west.

Yes, sorry I means to say WNW not NNW. But actually now it is changing to a westerly as you say

Snowing here now, though not settling anywhere. Extremely wet and turning to sleet from time to time -- it is most definitely marginal right now as far as Bewdley is concerned. Nevertheless, snow is falling! :D
