Afternoon All,

A light wintery shower with everything in it just went through Keyworth, just South of Nottingham, it only lasted a couple of minutes as it was blown along by the brisk wind.

Cheers

FC

Short sharp light snow shower in Dudley.  No accumulation, temp down to 2.2C.  Stopped now and a return to blue sky with clouds.

"Everybody" is pushing it! I've seen two minutes of sleety rain, and even that's more than many. But I know what you mean: there are showers popping up in a wide variety of locations, so there's hope for most people tonight. Many won't get anything, but some will, and it really could be anyone. :)

Why is it to the north all those shower blobs carry on well inland, but south of Manchester, they nearly all fizzle out when they hit the Irish Sea?

Frequent short, heavy showers of soft hail and snow today. The ground is white above about 280 m with a mixture of both.

Current temp' is 1.1c.

Signed back on after hearing all the hype at work and on the news, unfortunately the curse in place again, cold upper's when it's rain shadow westerlies, mild upper's or dry when it's ideal wind direction (NW).

Yep the snow shower reported in Bham and Shirley passed through here about half an hour ago.

Started of as rain on the windscreen, then to gapple and hail, then to snow on backedge.

Gave a light covering of snow on the lawn (Now gone).

Temperature was 4.7C but dropped to 3.0C in shower. Now back to 3.6C. Wind still gusty.

Temperatures are now cold enough to support snow in the upper air, now for the ground to cool down and we could have a covering by the morning.

I think the fact we have no warnings out for the West Midlands

tells its own story. I hope they are wrong.

Why would there be warnings out? We are only expecting a few showers.. perhaps something slightly better? The poor forecasts are what the models have shown in general.

Tomorrow looks interesting, MetO has me down for quite a lot of heavy snow. And plenty of showers coming through the midlands according to NMM. However it has them down as a mixture of snow and sleet, and on the past few snow events i've found it to be quite accurate with regards to what will fall as rain, sleet, snow etc. So it looks very marginal again, temps up to 3c, 850's around -4c/5c later on, dew points above freezing. So this one is going to go right down to nowcasting, as all marginal events do.

Luckily for me I have the day of work tomorrow so it should be fun :)

No show showers here - had one much earlier but nothing since then. Temp is 4.4oC, dew 0.7oC. I guess the random nature of showers means some of us will get lucky and others won't.

Snow showers so far are missing Derby by a hairs width to the north. If they could just penetrate a couple of miles further south. Tomorrow looks a better prospect for more of us to see something.

Lots of showers about, so it could be right.
