The winds here are worse than the last few storms when we have had warnings out for wind

Hi Gary,

Yes, that was a bit crazy. I am in Piccadilly and it didn't half blow a gale (40mph) with heavy rain.

Rattling through salford as well (nice 1 for data gaz) I stepped out of the door and it sent the poor dog sideways!

Whatever happens it will be an interesting couple of days

Very heavy and squally showers blowing through here. The temperature is also dropping like a stone too. Was 8C at 08:15, now I'm down to 5C.

Good sign!

Very strong westerly winds, feels bitter with heavy sleet not long ago. Temp was 7.2c when I woke up at 6 and now it's down to 3.3c - Hopefully it'll keep falling! Hope to see some wintry showers later, not expecting any snow accumulations but I'd like to be proved wrong!

This site is for weather enthusiasts, and many of us are new to model watching etc.

So if we want to look at weather apps, bbc forecast what is the problem?

It sometimes feels like there is a snobbery from more experienced members of newbies.

More so on TWO than here.

But I say to some members, with the upmost respect.

If you don't like some peoples posts, moods. Why not just scroll on and ignore it?

The bickering is what ruins this website, not the enthusiasm of newbies.

Ps I'm not trying to fall out with anyone, happy snow watching!

Feeling much colder here as the cold front/s pass through here.

First incoming shower inbound!!

I wouldn't rule out a thundersnow here.

Perfectly legitimate post that......  Im probably one of the ones who has moaned about the reference to weather apps and can see how that may come across as a bit snobby...... but its not meant to be, its just trying to explain that there are far better ways to see if snow is coming than a weather app.....

its meant to be helpful, but I can see how it comes across as cocky.

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record.  Really cold air wasn't supposed to arrive until later on today.  IMO that we are already seeing sleet/hail in the showers even at lower levels isn't bad news.  If you saw snow on christmas day 2004 I still think you are more or less sure of seeing falling snow from this.

Certainly notable this cold front, looks like we had a drop of about 5C in a short space of time in Manchester City Centre. We also have another observation site at Holme Moss (524m asl), the present weather sensor was reporting light snow not too long ago with a temperature ~ 1C. After the last cold spell there was about 8" of snow, but difficult to measure because of the drifting!
