Its a wait and see game as ever in these set ups. Some places will get lucky others perhaps won't, obviously if your away from the coast and city centre and with a bit of height - say 100 metres then I'll be surprised if the showers are not of snow. As for depths very tricky to call. Hilly parts of the Pennines and much of the Lake District look best primed for highest totals - no surprise here, but if we see trough features sustained precipitation then places lower down should do ok.

I'm keeping calm, it could be a snow fest here, likewise it might not, but I'll be surprised if heavy showers don't at least produce a temporary cover.

Yeh deffo we live in one of those little snow shakers, except with ours the snow falls on the outside around the dome lol

haha yea it does, I can be looking at the radar and our area will be 2 holes in the 'snow'.................I blame the Lake District, Pennines, Wales and the Irish Sea.

Anyone want to buy a house 23m asl and 3miles from the coast!

Accuweather reckons low lying coastal areas are in on the action too!

""Strong winds accompanying the snow will likely lead to near-blizzard conditions across the higher terrain during the peak of the storm," stated AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Eric Leister.

Even the lower elevations of Ireland and the western United Kingdom, such as Dublin and Liverpool, could receive a coating to an inch or two of snow.

The greatest opportunity for the snow to accumulate on roadways in these areas would be in any intense snow squall that can also briefly lower visibility."

Well im usually a south west Forum poster...but tonight and tomorrow im away on Business in Penrith of all places! I know my NAE and i think its in the firing line!

Yes, Penrith should be in the firing line as it is at 150meters but we have little from north westerlies recently so I will wait till it starts piling up! Having said that very similar set ups in 2003 and 2002 gave over 10cms.

We shall see.

Andy

You should do very well, the Lake District Mountains tend to attract the showers as they did last week.

Good luck!

Yes I don't want to blow the trumpet for inland Cumbria but we do look primed for some intense snow showers - the fells will aid the intensity and evaporative cooling, shouldn't be any marginal conditions. Penrith should do preety well I think as well. Not a day to be out on the fells, -24 windchill forecast!

Hmmm it seems warmer here now?? Blustery wind and dry.

Remaining mild overnight as the cold fronts move northwest to southeast, dragging in the much colder air by early tomorrow :)

This is the kind of northerly which could bring the region a few snow surprises early next week

Thank you. Seems strange we are talking about freezing temperatures and snow and we've no heating on except downstairs coal fire and bedroom Windows are open.. it's the warmest it's been here all day.

Hi Damian.. I have to travel from Troutbeck Bridge to Seatoller at the top end of Borrowdale tomorrow morning and return at 5ish, what do you think of my chances of getting there and back..?
