Stop... Now...

Just be glad you don't Live where I live, where apart from December 2010 I have never seen more than 3 inches of snow!

Same here, Im 36, (up to 18 in Liverpool 18- 36 in Preston)  I dont think Ive ever seen more than 4 - 5 inches of snow,  Ive said this before and people dont believe it.     My farther in law is 76, he thought the snow in 2010 (which although the cold spell was superb was actually only 4 inches at the very most)  was the most snow he had ever seen in Preston...he may be forgetting a time or two (and he spent 8 or 9 years away from Preston)...but it highlights how unusual deep snow is here....possibly a once in a lifetime event.     Thats why i TRY to not get to disappointed when it doesnt snow...its like being disappointed when its not warm in Siberia.

With all the talk about possible snow for many later not much focus has been paid to the active cold front about to rattle through. We've just had a pre frontal shower pass through Manchester, peak gust around18 m/s and rain rate 30mm/hr measured at the Whitworth Observatory at the Uni of Manchester:

Quick one from before work. Radar looks very tasty, plenty of heavy showers ready to pack in, watch them turn more wintry as day wears on. Outlook looks excellent too.

Working in North Wales today, VERY windy journey and just had a VERY heavy shower, with sleet and hail mixed in. Shocking drive!

Hi Gary,

Yes, that was a bit crazy. I am in Piccadilly and it didn't half blow a gale (40mph) with heavy rain.

Very gusty winds, the last of the slightly milder air not going without protest. Now bring on the chilly north westerlies
