Unless we get a plummet of temps it's not looking good, especially as it will be raining tomorrow afternoon...

Amber warning of snow for Cumbria! If it snows heavy in this wind strength there'll be problems! It's valid from 17.00 this evening.

Very changeable weather here. One minute hail and sleet, the next blue skies and sunshine still gusting winds. A real mish mash.

i take it from 5pm the showers will merge and there will be more of them,

Carol is going for 3 - cm here's hoping, not counting my chickens yet, current temp of 2c and a dew of 1c just had a light sleet shower enough to soak everything again, and it's gave way to sunny spells again

I would be getting excited at the prspect of streamers if I lived in my old stamping ground of Liverpool. Hail and snow mix like Xmas day 2004. Could give a substantial covering by tomorrow evening.

Can't believe this post was overlooked, from one of the most respected and best posters on the forum! Thank you Chiono!

You not concerned about Liverpool completely missing the Met Office warning?

P.S. Merseyside, his post counts for you too.

Once the wind swings more W then streamers will set up.  We had one in 2004 and again in 2010/11.

Keeping an eye on developments going forward, next tuesday not too shabby either (on this one run) and confirms what was said yesterday about how unstable this NW then N flow is.

Well the sky does look snowy, dont know what the temp is but its colder than earlier. Its just that damn wind will probs blow all the snow showers right over the pennines if it started snowing here. Not even raining, its sunny one minute, cloudy the next, then gusty winds.

oh man. Pretty close the amber warning just 50 miles further south and we'd be in the action.

Temp has risen here to 4.3c, expect it'll be up and down like a yo-yo as showers come and go, still blowing a gale really gusty with significant windchill.

Looking forward to the DP dipping down and the streamers starting to form later on. There was one a few yrs ago, I think 22nd or 23rd Dec 2009 that just followed East Lancs Rd all the way to Central Manchester, didn't stop for hours, it was amazing snow, with the Manchester Snow Shield being well and truly battered!!.
