Which area of WsM are you based?

Eastern edge of Weston, near the m5 junction.

I don't know if Fergie is online but if you do see this... Is that really a Polar Low to the North West of Scotland? Some people are saying it is but I'm not so sure.

@fergieweather: W COUNTRY Re tonight, greatest risk of snow (maybe 2-5 cm in some areas) is currently assessed as #Cotswolds & upland #Wiltshire (e.g. M4)

Think we should play M4 bingo - as in how many times Ian mentions the M4 corridor on his forecast at the end of points west,,,

I'll go with 4 times

Current Obs

3.8c

Saw Chio mention earlier in the mod thread that in his opinion it is one.

Im right on the coast in Weston , and in that last shower it was snowing on the pier. So anything that falls from now on should be all snow

Did someone say it was cold down on the south coast...

Well since noon, its has gone from 7.9c to 3.9c now

Its pretty dark here now with a few icy rain showers that are passing over, not seen any hail or sleet, yet!

That just hit Didcot too :D

Nice to see it falling. I support an older man and he just went "OH IT'S SNOWING, I HATE SNOW!" Didn't have the heart to tell him that I love the stuff :D

The temp is 3.3c now? How much has it dropped since 1pm?

It was 7.4*C at around 1:10pm.

It's snowing in Newbury, so officially the second snow day of the year and 2014/15 Winter, wow. A kind of grainy texture to it with the odd fluffier flake thrown in if that makes sense.  :yahoo: Barometer 977mb and falling rapidly, so am expecting more action within the next 12 hours I guess, before the warmer sector moves in during tomorrow.

Sorry I have a dumb question :-)

If this was a Poler Low how would that effect us in the SW?

Thanks

Well, if it took a track of going down the Irish Sea and into Western England, it could potentially deliver a fair bit of snow tonight.

I highly doubt that will happen though.

Radar not looking great to our North West though after this current crop of showers pass that appears to be it for quite a while.

Just 5 minutes after my last post, its now settling on car roofs and the grass, AT dropped a good degree in less than 10 minutes. 2.6c and falling, good times ahead, at least in the short-term.

I did wonder, but Benson got up to 6*C according to xcweather.

EDIT - now 2.6*C

Brilliant news! Very jealous I missed it! Did much settle?

Nope none I'm afraid. The ground was too wet and it was blowing around in the wind. At least I've won my bet with my son that we would have a flake or two today!!

Bizarrely I shut my eyes for a second and then looked out of the window and.... Now that was a surprise. I heard hail but...
