I've got a question for you guys. What are the best charts to look at for seeing if I have a good chance of snow? I know there's snow risk but what else?

Been a long time lurker but not posted much at all so far.

Looks an interesting evening/night and you never know, it might produce some snowy weather for at least some of the region!

Not sure if this has been posted here already but another member over on the model thread posted a link to this site that seems very good for following the track of the overnight 'feature' via satellite pictures:

Just had a moderate snow shower lasted about 3 minutes. Just as I came out of work in West Oxford. Eynsham

Wow white out in Warminster, rapid blizzard like graupel and gusting winds followed by 'proper' fluffy snowflakes settling on all surfaces!

The same shower has just hit here Andy. Real, actual snow.

Going out for a gander...

Batch of wintry ppn heading across Devon and Cornwall. Radar says currently snowing in whitsands right on the coast. Best chance of the white stuff at mid to lower levels in these parts in the next hour.

You need to get home quick before you miss it. :D

Does anybody know if lightning has been reported? Had to collect my soon early from the school sports field because a tree had fallen and blocked the road. The PE teacher said he saw it get struck by lightning when we had a heavy gusty shower.

Typical - just as things were getting good, no more showers coming in behind lol. Fingers crossed the ones over Wales will come this way soon. I can see ice becoming a problem soon.

That was great fun while it lasted. It was black as your hat while it was snowing.

Here's the back edge as it head south east towards the New Forest.

Awaiting the 12Z NMM as the 06Z showed another area of rain/sleet/snow across the region during the early hours.

I see the forecasters will have the worry beads out next week if the GFS set up is near the mark. The first low  sliding down west of Cornwall but not the second. I imagine will it, won't and where will be high on the agenda. The ECM is very similar.

I know I could barely keep my eyes on the road driving home while scanning the skyline for the snow line :D

It really is magic climbing up and seeing the transition from green to patchy to everything including trees and roads being white.
