Just rain here. Even last night @9ish when the radar was suggesting snow and I was stood in the garden like a pillock, it was just rain.

I'm going to put some piccalilli on my sandwich now to cheer myself up.

Ok, Now i`m bemused!!!

Warnings out all over the place on several days on M.O

BUT BBC Alex Deakin, showing temps of 7 most of the time for us?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/features/31041542

How come with a Northerly wind can we get temps of 7c?

I`m trending more M.O than BBC forecast, i know bbc get the info from M.O but why the vast difference?

These are maximums for towns and city's and coastal areas. so for all other areas shave a degree or two off then 1c per 100 meters etc

Also the national tends to have west country temperature set in coastal areas like Plymouth and so on so take them with a pinch of salt.

No idea what is falling on mendip as i'm in Bristol until 5pm. Temperatures up there are around 2c on wonderground

I'm quite surprised as well! I know our region (particularly my area) isn't the best for cold weather from modified polar air. But, the charts still projected it to be very nippy. Today, the hi-res models have backed away, even windchills are a good 6°C higher than what they were forecasted to be.

It was beautifully calm this morning, I was expecting it to be windy.

Luckily, I'm a fan of rain. :)

Is there anything more frustrating than sleet? It may as well just rain lol !

Frequent sleet and some hail showers in the last few hours, I got lucky working outside in Westbury this morning as there only caught the edge of showers throughout the morning.

Temp has fallen to 3.4c from an earlier max of 5.6c .

Same here current temp.7.0 It was colder last week before the predictions of a northerly blast lol. Light rain at present and certainly not expecting anything else from this northerly especially down here. Edit now moderate rain.

The transition to something more wintry is becoming more apparent. I just had a moderate rain shower here, it brought the temp down anyway. :)

Wintry rain here in Bristol as expected really. I doubt my location will see any snow fall for the next 48hrs at least.

Hopefully early next week can deliver me the goods.

It is very unlikely that the event near Rutland is connected to the Winchester one. The aftershocks mentioned in the paper would be very localised, generally smaller than the main quake and mostly undetectable to us.

Thank you, bellanite, that's interesting. We are lucky to have such knowledgable folk on this forum! :hi:

Rain, but has dropped temperature down to 5*C. It's never going to fall another 4-5*C that quickly though.

EDIT: Burst of hail reduced temperature to 4.8*C.

Model thread going on about a possible polar low forming NW of Scotland . Looks like one on this website http://www.sat24.com/?culture=en

Some people are saying it can't be a PL because the 850's aren't cold enough. Whatever it is, it's a beast!

Rain/sleet turned to snow now here in Didcot. Not settling though.

Wow - yes - looks like a classic!

Actually - or is it just a secondary low which has developed from the "shortwave" shown at around the same position on the GFS 6Z

Sleety hail (Boar's Hill), because I left two loads of washing out on purpose, he he!

Off to a late meeting at work now, I want to see white bits in the garden when I get back tonight :-)
