It was supposed to be raining long before now, according to yesterday's forecasts..

Warning for wind issued.

After seeing the forecast yesterday, I checked online and I checked the charts. None of it matched up! Even the Euro 4 didn't match the MetOs rain graphics.

Today, the forecast is for heavy rain from 11 - 1pm, but their charts are out of kilter with them. Suffice to say, they haven't got a clue.

Jesus, that squall line intensified quickly!

And has died as fast as it crosses Dorset.

I don't normally criticise the MetO for wind warnings, as they are usually spot on, but this is quite pointless. To issue a warning at 10:15am- valid from 10:30am > is stupid. If it was going to be issued, then it should have been way before folks were out of bed and getting ready to travel. The warning is also excessive.

Weatherpro (Meteogroup) had an advisory out two days ago. Alertspro was much earlier too, and looks to be far more sensible..

It arrived! The wind was nothing special, but the rain certainly came down!

Look at that rain rate..

Well that was a nothing event, a spell of moderate rain for 10mins and that's it. Oh well, plenty of the year left yet for some good events.

Certainly a lot more than cruised across Poole, with only 11.38mm/hr rain rate, much less than you.

Lovely afternoon in general but quite a rash of showers blowing in from the NW. Usually the Welsh mountains kill them off, but today they seem to be reinvigorating from the Bristol Channel, probably allied to the strong sun, but it's not the usual Bristol Channel streamer effect.

I'm back as more storm action on the way for us later on next week and over next weekend.

Charts are showing temperatures in the 20°C - 28°C range from Friday onwards and as CAPE increase and LI decreases, we could be looking at some thunderstorms especially on Thursday Night through to Sunday at least. No precipitation showing on the charts yet, but things are starting to look quite interesting.

For some reason, I can't post charts anymore on here... But, both the GFS and NMM charts are agreeing high levels of instability especially on Friday Night giving the possibility of some very vivid and spectacular storms during the night and also high temperatures especially on Sunday.

This is definitely something to watch.

The ever intriguing prospect of a "biscay low" trundling around could put the South & South West into the limelight for any potential convective/thundery activity this time next week.
