Yes same here in Reading, feeling very muggy and warm even though RH is at 70%...things also brewing east of Worcester, looking like showers are building from the increasing CAPE in that area....

Even though there isn't any storms at the moment, I do like the muggy feel within the breeze. Its been increasing as the day has worn on. Reminds me of last years day after day even after storms muggy feel.

Had those cloudscapes for the past five or six hours, here. The odd spot of rain from it earlier.

Never looks as bad in the photos :-)

This is looking NW toward farnborough & Reading

Like how slow-moving it all is.

I have just been under that, and I can tell you that it's nothing special. Just a few spits and spots of rain.

Whilst the Netweather team are out chasing big supercells and tornadoes in the USA, I spent some time last Tuesday chasing UK style pulse storms in our version of the US Plains - Lincolnshire. I have put together a chase account with pictures, it's kind of a diary of a storm chaser in the UK.

Obviously not to be taken literaly of course but GFS FI is throwing out some ridiculously delicious charts for heat and storm lovers

It always looks good out in those dark realms, but this is how it'll end up..

Tragically too far away at the moment...I'd take 500-600 CAPE with LIs of -2 given how poor this year has been so far.

Plus I'm off to Greece for just over a week in Mid June so will be a little upset if I miss the first proper plume of 2015!

Ridiculous charts!

First major storm porn teaser of the year has appeared :D

Notice how the 500hpa winds are straight up from the Pyrenees too. This would possibly rule out any NE escapement route from the UK over the usual places such as Belgium.

This is as good a setup as you will ever see for some major storms in this country.

We can only wish for a triumph of hope over experience I'm afraid though folks!! Nice to see nonetheless :)

I can see room for improvement.  Southerly 500mb wouldn't necessarily be ideal.  As long as the winds at low-levels (Boundary layer to 850mb) are southerly to pump in the heat and moisture, you'd still get the high CAPE shown.  Aloft, what you'd rather want to see is jet winds at 500mb blowing due W'erly, increasing deep layer drectional shear, and pretty much guaranteeing a widespread supercell outbreak.  Though as exciting as that reads, the reality on the day would be somewhat dicey.

Couldn't agree more - I don't mind chasing supercells across the plains of the US, but the thought of a funnel or golf ball sized hail landing on my house isn't fun!

A nice MCS ticks my boxes...nothing severe necessarily, just some frequent lightning and booming thunder and I'm more than satisfied.

goodness I hope those charts verify even just a little. We've earmarked that time-period to head over to France/Belgium in the hope of seeing some action:D
