fairly quiet here today with most showers either skirting to the south or developing here and giving their 'goodies' further east towards London....One hail shower here around 5pm that's developed into a small thunderstorm in Surrey...Another small storm to my SW but that one's heading for Salisbury....Not complaining though as the air flow pattern was never especially conducive for storms in this neck of the woods....Nice to see members further east and north experience storms though......For me, bring on the elevated plume storms later on this summer!

Looks like we're going to get it again. Some seriously angry looking shelf cloud over Essex way. Will put up my video and pictures later.

I'm under it Lauren and it's quite impressive. Had 4 rumbles, 3 flashes, and rice sized hail, but the southerly direction is puzzling as is the rotation. Could turn out to be a real beaut.

And another rumble as I'm replying  :)

Third storm of the day just beginning here. Plenty of strikes over Canvey island way.

Crazy, the hail still hasn't melted from earlier!

Staying up at Sandhutton (North Yorkshire) this week, had a thunderstorm about an hour ago, mostly to the west and south but there was one flash that was very close to the SW.

Definite hook on storm near Rochester anyone got visual

That's the storm I had...looked like it was decaying then hail started as did the thunder and lightning. Looked increasingly more organised as it drifted East

Looks to me like a hook on that storm.

Something was definitely brewing as it was passing over. Definitely some rotation. Can't get a visual on it anymore though.

Went for a walk as the last cell approached. As i was getting to a good vantage point a new cell popped up and took all the energy from the big one coming towards us. Just caught the northern edge of this cell and the ground was covered with pea sized hail again. Just the one loud crack of thunder though :p

Could also still see the rotation on the previous storm that passed just before this one..

Yep, that Kent bound storm definitely has a hook echo signature to it. Notice the Eastern cell dived directly south into the parent storm.

Interesting.

Convection has been good all day and have had some downpours and hail no thunder or lightning though that's reserved for the East roll on the summer looking forward to a cracker like last year

A video of it earlier:

And some photos of the hail and ominous looking cloud over Essex (no idea why the first one is the wrong way):

Had a good feeling about today for a number of days and it didn't disappoint! Three pulse storms today including a close bolt with shotgun thunder - not bad :D

To cap it off, gorgeous anvil to my East with some mammatus tickling the underside of it...got the whole anvil with my wide angle lens but will upload later.

Here's a few of pics from my phone

Not much action here today except from a heavy hail shower on my way home from work at about 17:25 just NW of here. Hail stones were nearly the size of marbles but more like peas.

Took from Spalding, Lincs after a real decent torrential storm out of nowhere with multiple forks in one strike!

What a way to end the day!
