The BBC Forecasts we're right for once ;) They did say our little belt of the world would stay mostly dry and sunny today and what's happened? it's stayed mostly dry and sunny ;) My other half's had some lovely showers though (she's got pics for me on whatsapp but need to reinstall it)

I've had a few squally showers today that have produced the odd rumble, but besides that I haven't seen any lightning today, bar a couple flashes last night.

count yourself lucky with those crumbs , nothing here as usual,  no thunder , no lightning just passing blustery showers   not really torrential, just moderatly heavy, I have a bad feeling about thundery stuff this year

Thought I was out of luck as one looked to be skirting just to my north which died, another popped up just south around Crawley/Gatwick which according to my little sis was a cracker.

Then a little beauty cropped up right on my doorstep with prolonged heavy hail.

There's a massive anvil sat over Leeds at the moment, as well as some disorganised convective mess towards LBA. I'd be surprised if we got more than a rumble or two but it's spectacular to look at. It'll be a bumpy ride for anyone flying in!

Drove through the rain/hail that dropped from that on the way back from Harrogate earlier. It got slightly wet..

Just had hail of up to a 1.5cm-1cm which is quite impressive

I expect to see reports of a tornado or wind damage in North Northamptonshire soon, this has been building and rotating for 20 minutes now.

Lightning!!!attachicon.gifDSC_0608.JPG

Wow, I am moderately close and we havnt had any since around 1700. I have a very good view of the southern skyline only, and can only see some Cumulus clouds around.

That was insane! I've never seen such a heavy prolonged hail shower in my life. The garden is blanketed in white! Had a mini thunderstorm as well, about a good 5 close strikes a rumbles. wasn't expecting that!

I've been out and you can pick up handfuls of it! Just eaten some too, crazy to think that's ice that's been made tens of thousands of feet in the air!

Think it's destroyed my seedlings though :(

What a storm this one has been! A very defined gust front formed as the storm came over us,   50+ rumbles of thunder, several forks of lightning across the sky, some definite rotation, marble hail a mile or two south of us and finished off with a nice rainbow. I just missed a rainbow with a nice fork going across the sky, I didn't get camera out in time!  :wallbash:

I can now hear distant rumbles from the next cell heading my way :)

Hmm, its not letting me put on screenshots, but the 1800 radar looks like storms are going to engulf and eat London.

I'll upload a video later. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there was a tornado nearby.

Just a few distant rumbles around here today and a smidge of hail - cells seem to fade when they get here :-(

Snatched a couple of shots of mammatus and a distant CG though...

The cat insisted on going out even though I warned him it was going to chuck it down, but he insisted and bolted into his hiding place as it came down. He's just emerged and is walking on all the hail with this face saying 'WHAT THE FUDGE WAS THAT?!?'

Glad you managed to get something Lauren, much deserved!

Seen a fair portion of lightning today, decent hail and thunder too. Hoping to maybe catch some night lightning as the storm risk goes on over E Lincolnshire overnight :)

I've just seen this tweet about 5 minutes ago about a supercell on the continent and possible tornado.
